Seems like we rarely hear cases of road rage around here and not making the list is prove positive we are relatively safe from rage on the road, even though being a small town has to have an effect on the numbers. If they were measuring ignorance on the road well that’s a different story - just to be nice I will say Ignorance is Bliss.

A Cincinnati driver in a pickup truck was eager to get us higher up the list this evening.
I decided to just let him on by, though I wanted to kick his door.
He continued on and blasted past several cars in the right lane, cutting them off, so I think he was just ordinary ornery as opposed to really wanting to be mean to a poor defenseless scooter rider.

You know, it's funny that Boston beats LA by one spot. We lived in Boston not too long ago, and my boyfriend was commenting the other day how much more polite drivers are in LA. I thought he was high (I drive here more than he does, and on the scoot to boot), and said so. But apparently, he was on to something...

Yea bringing up Boston, I also always thought Boston as having the rudest drivers, but I have never driven in Miami, been through NY and LA many times – NY just seemed slow – LA is organized chaos but things move well – Boston I thought they were crazy and rude. I had the opportunity to drive in many Asian countries and South Korea, Seoul, was just insane – we always let the guy from Boston drive there, he picked up on how to drive there right away – one hand on the horn, one hand waving bird salutes out the window and steering with his knees it always worked when we had to go thru the city.

Ha! Yes, people from the rest of New England sometimes refer to MA drivers as "Massholes"

Hey Kevin, I wonder if that's the same guy who zoomed me to cut me off at a squeeze, honking and being an asshat...I was taking it personally but he ran up to the car ahead of me and did the same thing, tailgating and honking at them, wanting to pass even though they had nowhere else to go. Argh, don't get me started...

Unfortunately he has already reproduced, had several children in the vehicle with him. And so the cycle continues...

I can't believe that Washington is that far down on the list.
Anyone whose driven on the Beltway knows what I am talking about.

On Good Morning America this morning they were reporting on this find.
Apprently those in Portland, OR are considered the most polite drivers in the nation. I only remember them highlighting Seattle and a few other places but I can't remember. Didn't really see a flip side story on most polite drivers.
Sorry, if anyone can find the list or article please post it!

My daughter just finished a 2 year adventure in South Florida. When we were moving her stuff down there, we noticed a change in the drivers when we were on the Florida Turnpike, near Gainesville. As we moved south, it got steadily worse. We thought it was just a bad day, but our experience over the next two years proved otherwise.
I grew up on the East coast and have some experience with drivers in all the major cities there. I always thought Boston drivers were the craziest compared to Philly and New York. South Florida drivers are a different breed. On each of our 5 or 6 visits down there, we'd notice new rude behavior patterns evolving. So, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it would. On a visit in November, we discovered that there was a population of drivers who wouldn't wait to pull their cars out into a busy street. Apparently, they'd decided that they'd waited long enough and it was just time to go. We saw this behavior numerous times on US-1 through the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale corridor. Since lawsuits are running rampant down there, my take is that these people are daring you to hit them so they can sue someone.
Driving in this manner is close to the ultimate expression of selfishness. I have to admit that it really bothered me. A lot. I can take rude behavior from people. Everyone has a bad day and some people can be jerks. I'm fine with that. The south Florida stuff is on a different level though. Unfortunately, that type of behavior will expand beyond Florida so be on the lookout. It's one thing when a selfish jackass pulls out in front of your car. It's another when you're on your scooter.

seems legit to me-esp Boston-so rotton

. Now where do "Jersey drivers" (my mother's rants growing up were directed at them) fit in...under New York I suppose? Cleveland drivers are very curtious compared to other places I have lived and/or drove. However, they are clueless when it comes to 2 wheelers.

There's no way that MSP

I was born/raised and lived most of my life in NJ, and learned to drive there.
I have also lived in Boston, and now live in Cincinnati.
Everybody has their own brands of badness, and drivers are unskilled everywhere.
I can say this though, after a recent unplanned week long stay in NJ, we couldn't get out of the state fast enough for me. I told my wife "once we cross the border into PA I don't care how far we get or how soon we stop, as long as it's out of NJ".

I lived in Boston, San Fran, and now LA, and have spent time in Florida. My take is this:
Boston drivers are GOOD drivers, they're just crazy...when they do "stupid" things, they are usually fairly calculated in their actions. They learn to drive like this (like myself) to deal with the f'ed up roads.
San Francisco, everyone's too stoned, I swear. People will sit at a 4-way stop, and just wave at each other..."go ahead bro...no, dude, it's your turn...no, if you go, I'll get karma points..."
LA just sucks. The drivers are crazy and do stupid things because a. they're just stupid and clueless, or b. they have entitlement issues; "my car is more expensive than yours, so I have the right away...". The richer the neighborhood, the worse it gets. Also, in LA people get really enraged because the average "drive to the store" takes 45 minutes!
Florida drivers are just BAD.

I'm in Chicago and I've (on my scooter) been purposefully run off the road twice, AND had a gun pointed at me once, and one of my friends (on a motorcycle) was stabbed by a cabbie, so I hate to think about how bad it is in the top 6.
