Dr. Pulley thread

Someone posted a letter or press release here making allegations about MRP, Dr. Pulley sliders and possible counterfeiting. Since it's a first post, I can only assume the poster registered for the sole purpose of disseminating the information.
This isn't the place with anyone for an axe to grind and the forum isn't the appropriate battleground for any legal or other disputes between manufacturers.
Members are free to discuss the topic if they have any info, but this isn't the Dr. Pulley press office.

This one's an odd one. Union Material already has a forum identity, so the creation of a new one to post this press release is odd. It does go against the policy of not airing dirty laundry in public, etc, but I do think that since the first thing that's recommended to riders who want a good solid upgrade is Dr Pulley sliders that it should at least be brought to the attention of potential buyers. MRP has been the speed bump to getting them stateside for a while and now, it seems they've started their own production line of imitation sliders. From the Dr Pulley post, these sliders are made of a different material that can damage aluminum variators.
I can totally understand Union Materials' want to make a public statement directed at their primary customer base and potential customer base (new owner comes along and sees the $25 price for DrP sliders, then a lower price for the fake ones and goes for the ones that could potentially damage the variator) so it has a potential warning/buyer beware aspect as well. I get and respect that. The thing that does boggle me a bit is that they've (UM/DrP) already got a forum membership (I forget what it is). I attribute that to the language barrier.
I'd suggest that Dr Pulley post the information on their website with the various tests so that their customers and potential customers can make their own choice. Linking to that should be perfectly OK; but this is primarily a rider forum so I totally get the need to keep dealer and manufacturer posts to a minimum.

I'll bite. As a new rider/new scooter owner, what the heck is a Dr Pulley? I saw the original post, but couldn't make out what the product even is.

Dr. Pulley is a brand of CVT parts by a company called Union Material out of Taiwan. Their biggest product that is talked about on the forums is their slider weights. They have a different design than the stock roller weights that many people (me included) feel improves scooter performance. Their other parts are variators and clutches for scooters.
Hope this helps.

Just thought I would post this here since a lot of users would pull it up for Dr. Pulley info.
FYI from Buggy Parts NW:
Buggy Parts NW is now an official importer/distributor of Dr Pulley products! We will be significantly increasing our Dr Pulley product line over the next few months! Keep checking back to see what we've got! Dealers, feel free to contact us regarding bulk pricing and special orders.
Many of us have used these guys to buy the variator as they stock it cheap.

Hi Everyone,
I think that was Paul from Dr Pulley who was posting that information, as he sent me links to a similar post that he's been putting up on various forums.
I have no comment regarding the quality of MRP's slider weights, as I have never seen them in person nor am I likely to use them (not being an MRP dealer anymore...). I will assume that Paul and the Dr Pulley engineers have done their homework regarding the quality of the MRP sliders as their claims will certainly have to be backed up.
That being said, the quote from Tocsik is true: we are now an official importer and distributor of Dr Pulley products. We're in the process of getting a big stocking order placed and are taking suggestions for sizes and weights of sliders (example: 18x14, 11g, 12g, etc). Since Dr Pulley has a very large catalog of products, we will not be able to carry everything at one time and are initially trying to stock only the most popular weights that people want.
Feel free to send any feedback about what you'd like us to carry to: sales(at)buggypartsnw.com.
Thanks,
Dr Pulley Products

Just saw this thread and I was alerted by my peers and distributors I have for scooter parts and Dr Pulley products. So I signed up just so I can post a FYI to anyone who would like to purchase some performance parts.
My shop and retail stocking store has offered Dr Pulley products since 2005 I doubt any others besides MRP did before that year, I have had my shop since 2003 and find DR Pulley in 2004 or so. I will not comment on who is a distributor but my duty fees are a major expense for me weekly.
I do carry the popular sizes 15X12. 16X13 and 18X14 for Mineralli and GY6 engines which is what Buddy scooters use plus of course every other high performance part also since 200.. well whatever it does not matter.
Anyone who slams on MRP or anyone for that matter who works from home or did not have a shop an a stocking store right now with the address and pictures and videos of the shop and store is foolish.
There is a only a few manufactures and a ton so be distrbiutors, really I know considering my set up for Ruckus I can not get enough for the demand which comes with clutch, clutch bell, torque spring, slider weights, and the silly spacer but the catch is its assemblied already plug and play, we ship together built.
Anyways if youdo not see something on our site please give us a call I am sure I can get it whatvever it may plus I might have it just because its a two stroke Buddy its a mineralli engine and a 4T well its GY6 and I cover all.
