I've been looking online for reasonably priced riding pants, armored, warm/hot weather mesh overpants kind of thing. I'm familiar with newenough.com. In fact I just got a great cold weather jacket from their bargain basement for $50!

The cheapest pants I've found anywhere so far are in the $90 range, and not necessarily what I want. Any leads here would be greatly appreciated.

Since I just got my new order: Jacket and Gloves. I like their return policy and am using it right now in fact! The original jacket i ordered (in Large theoretically my size) was too tight/small on me. So I ordered same jacket, in a larger size and couldn't pass up some $15 gloves they have.

They're upfront with their terms. For example, customer pays shipping to and from. They've called me about stuff and been very good communicating via email.

I LOVE the jacket for one more reason (Besides the removable liner and the reflective strip) My wife laughed and said our Halloween costumes are 50% done now! I look like Cyclops in the jacket! She's hunting for an Xmen patch right now! HA!!!

Newenough comes thru again. I just checked their website again and found another closeout bargain for the kind of pants I'm looking for: mesh, for warm/hot weather, armored, can be worn as overpants or by themselves; Joe Rocket brand, and from what I've been seeing on the web, a hell of a bargain at $57, so I ordered them.

I feel all geared up now: helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, acceptable boots. As soon as the weather clears up again - hrumphhh! - I'll be a'ridin'.

Well, you don't HAVE to, but then you risk scaring everyone who sees you, not to mention the lawman. I guess it's one of those really personal decisions. Hmmmmmm.

A while back I had seen a site where you could send in a pair of jeans, and they would make custom riding pants for you. But I lost my bookmarks... similar to draggin jeans. Anyone knw what I am talking about??

I haven't seen this, but I can't help wonder if the price for custom work wouldn't be as much or more than draggin jeans ($90+)? Would be good to have as a resource though.

Two of the members of our scooter club are getting married on St. Patrick's Day in Las Vegas and all of us in the club are invited to be part of the wedding party. Only catch? The guys all gotta wear kilts!! Being of Scottish extraction, I can dig it.

So maybe instead of worrying about pants, we should just wear kilts...

Yes, custom will be 2-3 times more. But often I find a women's XS too big, so it's hard to find gear that fits me. I figure it might be worth paying for custom because my normal jeans are starting to show wear, if riding pants fit they offer better protection, and if they are a sturdier copy of my favorite jeans, I'm more likely to wear them on a regular basis.

I'm okay wearing regular jeans on my scooter, but often I ride in work pants and now that it's summer I want to start wearing skirts at work, and that's just not something I feel comfortable riding in. So I'm trying to find something that I won't mind walking in to work in and that will hold up to the wear and tear of everyday riding.

Girlbike made a post ages ago on her website blog about petite women searching instead for boys motocross gear. If you are very curvy this probably won't work, but I thought I'd pass along the tip.

Be careful when you are riding.......you wouldn't want a Marilyn Monroe thing going on. Ahh but the freedom of no pants.....

The way I figure it is, that since the wedding will be in Vegas, if we do a scooter escort for the bride's limo in our kilts on a windy day, we could probably clear out Vegas in about 10 minutes and have the town to ourselves...

ooooooo!

Utilikilts makes a wedding appropriate 'Tuxedo' kilt AND a scooter appropriate leather kilt. Add some skater kid kneepads to that leather kilt and you'll be a scooter god.
