First Breakdown

Post by Dan Buddy »

Had my first breakdown with my buddy 50. I was trying out the windshield I just installed went about 5 mile to the store and when I came back out about 5 minutes later she was leaking fuel like a big dog. Pulled the air cleaner and there was the fuel coming out of the carb (I think). Not much of a small engine guy but I think the float is stuck, who knows. Maybe I couldn't find it but I can't believe there isn't a fuel shut off valve for the fuel system. Took about two and half hours for the tow truck to get there. Dropping it off at the dealer tonight, curious to see what the problems is with on 109 mile on the odometer.

Search around - a few other members have had this same exact problem with their 125's.

Unfortunately, if your 50 is set up like our 125's, then you don't have a way to shut off the fuel, it uses vacuum to "switch" on the gas.

Hopefully the dealer takes care of it and all is fixed for you when its said and done.

Fixed

The float was stuck. Took them about 30 minutes to fix and get it back up and running. First time they had this issue on a Buddy.

Maybe the Buddys aren't so fond of Wisconsin. I'm in Madison and had a very similar problem on my 125. Its been 800 miles since mine was fixed and all is still well.

First Breakdown

I only had 109 miles on my Buddy and had just fueled up for the first time the day before when it happen so I am hoping it was caused by a little dirt or particle in the fuel line. I have put about 40 miles on it since then and she is running great. Now I am hoping for a few rainy days so I can start moding my Buddy.
