Buddy in Canada!

Post by Sparky »

Folks, it seems we Canadians may finally be entering the Buddy Brotherhood. Just got word from a local vintage Vespa shop that is also a PGO Canada dealer. Transport Canada has approved the My Bubu 125 and 50 for import. The first shipment is arriving in the first weeks of July; the demonstrator is being showcased at the dealer next week.

We got Buddies! Now, to snag one of the first few after I do a test ride. :D

I wonder who will be carring them in Toronto? I will have to check out the Canada spec bike when I'm up there this fall. I'm really tempted to take my scoot with me this trip...now I just need away to get it there.

it is funny this thread is going. we thought long and hard about renting a trailer to haul them up to Niagara Falls this summer and ride along the gorge/rover up to Niagara on the Lake. can you imagine how sweet that would be? We even wondered what it would be like to ride them that far-ehh maybe not that fun as I have too little vacation time. Plus I do not think I could strap my allotment of Caffreys Ale which is no longer available in the US to the backl
Canada does indeed rock

Front Street Cycle in TO and Cool Rides in Barrie, according to the dealer list on PGO Canada's website. Those should be getting any Bubu 50's and 125's in August. The dealer here is part of a "test batch". You'll be understanding if I'm not too forthcoming on exact location, although the clues I've given out would be enough to find out who it is. With only twelve on hand in Canada, I really don't want to be scooped.

Oh, and we're getting the Series Italia! I think PGO has adopted it as an official variant. Those whitewalls are sweeeet. I'm tempted, although my blaze-orange riding jacket might go with a matching panel tone better. It's a bit like getting new curtains and having to replace the carpet.

The local name is the Metro 125. Yay, we have the least geeky name for the Bubu in any market. :D Although now I'll have to deal with "so, you're a Metrosexual then?" jokes.

That's IT!!! I'm so stealing that name for my scooter. I really hate the name Buddy.

Random Philadelphian: "What kinda moped choo got?"
Poliana: "It's a Metro 125 SCOOTER, ya jerky!"

Ah, I can't wait.... :D

Well, so much for that. It seems that Transport Canada has nixed for now the import of the 50cc Metro--tires are non compliant--so PGO Canada has put a kibosh on distributing the line as a whole until they can homologate the 'ped version. Which is fair from a business standpoint--50cc scoot sales vastly outnumber that of larger displacements in this province. I'm told that *one* might be available for sale. That is, the one PGO used to get the 125 approved for use.

I might be the *only* Metro 125 rider in Canada, if I can snag it. I feel soooo special. :D
