Proper way of Securing a Buddy
I need some advice about how to secure my Buddy to the bed of my pickup. I hear that you shouldn't strap down the handlebars with the ratchet type of tie downs because of the possibility of bending them. Is this correct?

Put a block of wood in front of the front tire, so the Buddy can't hit the front of your bed. You can use ratcheting tie-downs or Canyon-Dancers to pull it down tight. C-Ds are a little better because they have sleeves that slip over the grips, but I've used tie-downs and it hasn't really been a problem. There are other threads on here that show how to secure it, you can do a search and find them. I'll see what I can find as well...

When I picked mine up at the dealership, we used ratchet tie-downs. Made a loop around each handle & break lever and strapped it down tight. This is a good system because it applies the brakes. Not sure about bending, but I would think you should be able to compress the suspension w/o bending the handle bar.

I concur, you are not going to bend the handle bars unless you fully compress the front shocks and tighten or ratchet the crap out of it.....make it tight and snug but dont go over board and drive cautiously while carrying any load as always......I always use the ratchet tie downs on the rear of the scooter as well going through the rear rack.
