It has been 2.5 months since I started riding. Well...I had my first encounter with a caged jerk

in a truck yesterday. He was driving a piece of crap pickup, one hand on the wheel and the other arm draped over the bench seat. He was total obvious to the fact that large foam pieces was flying out of the bed of his truck.
It scared me at first to see chunks coming at me. A little swerve and I was by it. I almost yelled at him when we came to a stoplight. Na... I didn't want to ruin my day by wasting breath on this guy.

Saw something on TV the other night about that sort of thing in LA, all the crap that isn't secured properly in trucks that ends up on the expressway and/or hurting other drivers. They're introducing legislation but who knows how well that will work.
Thank goodness you didn't get hurt...and it would have been a shame to avoid the debris on the road safely only to get beat up giving the asshat truck driver the finger

Were you not able to go into a different lane, or ride further away from him? I hate inconsiderate people, too, but I wouldn't put myself in that position of possibly have things fall and hit me.
I say this from experience, having been behind a truck with a mattress that came flying off on the 80 going through Emeryville, CA. Luckily I was far enough behind that i was able to swerve and avoided hitting it.

I couldn't get into the adjacent lane because another pickup was in the way.
I think people diliberately don't tie things down. That way they don't have to pay to go to the dump.
People tossing cigarette butts out the window in front of you is really irritating.

hm, i had never thought of that before. that's pretty scary though. $ for the dump vs. $$$ if someone gets injured.
i wonder if the person who dropped the pepsi vending machine on the freeway that messed up my car was thinking like that. heehee.

I was driving down a road in my truck before behind some pos hyundai and when he hit a bump his alternator fell out from underneath his car and I ended up running over it and blowing out my tire. Good thing I wasn't riding my bike or I would have wiped out my perfect motorcycle record of never being in an accident.

An alternator is a new one. Normally it is glass, bumpers, exhaust parts and misc. other parts. I've hit road junk and blew out tires also.
