and in front of the store were 3 parked scooter. mine became the 4th. as i was parking a 5th one came by and parked.

then, as i'm getting my grocery bags out and getting ready to go inside the store, an older couple came out and started chatting me up about the scooter. they were all giddy and happy to see a genuine buddy. apparently they have heard about it but haven't seen one in person.

we got talking and they mentioned that last year they took a 700 mile trip from Denver to Taos on their scooters (his and hers). anyway, it was kinda neat to see that many scooters at some random location like that, and nice to see happy scooterists.

I'm happy to see in recent years that scooters are *kinda* picking up in popularity. I just moved to a semi-rural area from Boston - it seems that scooters are more popular in mid-sized cities where public transportation isn't fully developed (i.e. trains like Chicago's L, Boston's T, etc).

With the advent of summer, I've noticed not only more motorcycles on the road, but a few scooters, as well. Several times now, I've seen a guy on a Burgman 400... first saw him as I was dropping mail up at the post office, second time on the road home. Yesterday, I saw a woman on a red moped... couldn't tell make or model, but it looked new, all fresh and shiney. And yes, it was a moped, not a scooter! I also used to have a neighbor who had a moped, as well.

Oh, and a while back, I saw a guy on a Vespa ET4... on the freeway....

ive seen a bunch of new scooters here in norman. i always point and waive when i see them. there is a cute chic that rides one around alot and when i see her i blow her a big kiss.

she started blowing them back to me lately, nest time i see her i may have to pull a u-turn and chat her up.
