New Buddy 50 brake leak.

I just bought a brand new Buddy 50 on Saturday (my first scooter). I noticed clear fluid coming from line running up to the front brake lever. It's appears to be coming right from the connector there.

There's also clear fluid coming out from under where the handlebar assembly meets the body (where there's a slight gap there). I'm assuming that it's running down the line from the lever, and just dripping, but I don't know - it could be a second leak.

Unfortunately, the dealer is closed on Monday, so I won't be able to take it in until tomorrow. Is there anything I can check myself? Is this common?

If I remember correctly there's a level indicator that you can see without removing any plastics. Just look 'into' the handlebar area from the side and you should be able to spot a little plastic window with a fill line on it.

Yeah, I can see that, and it looks like it's about MIN level.

I actually took the top plastic part off to try to pinpoint exactly where it's coming from. I couldn't tell.

It seems safe to drive for now (the brakes aren't spongy or anything), until I can get it in. The annoying thing is it flows out along the throttle cable, and then the wind makes it spray all one my leg while I'm riding.

Phan,
Keep an eye on your blinker. If the brake fluid dripped on to it, you're like to need a new one. Brake fluid is caustic and will make the plastic brittle. Just a heads up.

Yes, it sure is. Don't be surprised if it damages plastic or bubbles paint. If you see any hydraulic connectors that you can reach and tighten with a wrench, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

me too . . .

although this thread is a year old - I just got my buddy 50 about a month ago and noticed the same thing. The dealer said he would have to order a new part and just keep an eye on it until the part came in. I am wondering if this is an ongoing problem with these? Anyone else have this problem??

Not an ongoing problem. It may be a that it wasn't filled or connected correctly when there scooter was prepped by the dealer.

Definitely keep any brake fluid away from plastic parts!
