Can't stop the mods

Well it's been a couple of weeks so I guess it was time to do a little more modification to the Buddy. This weeks changes were adding a chrome rear rack and a tall windshield cut down to 15 3/4 inches. I also made small half oval cutouts for the upper blinkers just for fun. I did find that once I had the top edge smoothed out the factory edge looked a pretty rough so I smoothed out the rest of the factory edges.

When cutting down the windshield I would strongly recommend taping / protecting the entire windshield to prevent scratches and putting a little painters tape on the jigsaw guide is also helpful. For smoothing out the factory edge I made three passes - 1st time with 120 grit, 2nd time with 240 grit and the 3rd time I wet sanded with 600 grit. The edge looks great, so great my wife had me clean up the factory edge on her windshield.

where do you get that sharp looking chrome edge you have on the bumper?

I got the chrome edge from Auto Zone but just about any car parts store will have it. It's just car door edge trim. It was under $6 for a roll. A cheap mod with a cool look.

That two tone scheme is waayy cool! Did you paint it or buy the different colored panels?

Why didn't you just purchase the medium screen?

I painted the body panels myself with Krylon Fusion spray paint. I figured if I didn't like the results I would just pick replacement panels but it turn out ok. Don't try to do it in one coat of paint, I think I did 6 or 7 light coats and once a had the coverage I wanted I wet sanded before applying one last coat of paint.

I still want to paint my rims and add some tunes to my Buddy. I am waiting on a raining weekend to paint the rims and I am not sure what to do about the tunes. I am really leaning towards just using a stereo blue tooth headset. From what I have read it's not against the law here unless it interferes with safe operation of the vehicle. Obviously I am not talking about cranking it up, just a little background music while riding to work. I am curious if the engine will interfere with the Bluetooth reception.

I bought some chrome edge from AutoZone at lunch. Can't wait to get home tonight and further 'Pimp My Ride'.

The chrome cowl protectors and footpegs + tan SX bag a supposed to arrive from Motorsport Scooters (scooterwest.com) tomorrow!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the short, old style, wind screen.

Then I think white wall paint for the tires.

Thanks for the chrome edge trip. That is just most excellent!!!

too cool

Dan, which windscreen did you cut down and put on your Bud?

I purchased the "tall" windshield. I really liked the Genuine windshield but for the 2006 Buddy there was either a short or tall windshield. I have heard that there is a medium windshield available from Genuine for 2007 Buddys.
