Buddy 2013

Post by ryder1 »

When is the next date/month for the new model of Buddy?

I like the 170i, but would like a brighter/lighter color. Will new colors be available next April or ____?

No idea if any changes or new colors are coming. The 2012 models are already coming in. In the past, current year models start coming in around April of that year (so they're very early 2012s!).

Earliest we'll probably see 2013s is next fall but it could be as late as the following spring (of 2013).

If you want different colors just have the body panels painted the color you want. They are easy to remove/reinstall. Hell, customization is half the fun of owning these scooters!

^^^ I totally agree. Not a hard bike to get painted, and then you can have something NO ONE else has!
Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?

I was thinking that getting vinyl wrapped could look pretty cool also.

You can change colors easily then, never violating the original panel colors.

I don't think it's that expensive, especially if you do it yourself.........

Super,

Do you have some vinyl in mind or have you any favorites you came across? If so can you post a few pics for examples?

Thanks...

The only Buddy I know of that has a full-scooter vinyl wrap is Howardr's Iron Buddy:

Only issue with doing a 'custom' paint job is that it limits its resale value if that matters.

Always draws a red flag 'has this been crashed?' response.

How much you wanna bet that for 2013, you will see the 170 become the International 170....
The sales in our store prove it.... the International 150 sell very well... the 170, don't do so well, and we are a big Genuine dealer!

OK, I missed this. I feel bad continuing the hijack, but Howardr, can you confirm that these mirrors are a direct swap on the Buddy. In other words, the right side with the adapter can handle the reverse thread? I'm asking because I don't have a windshield and I'm not sure if that came with an adapter.

Do you ever run them w/o the windshield? If so, can you comment on what you can actually see with them?

Thanks much in advance! I HATE the Buddy stock mirrors and don't like the look of the Yammy mirrors. And I don't when I started to give a crap about looks, but somewhere along the line, it happened.

If you don't want to paint or do a wrap, you can always order different panels. :)

That's another cool thing about Buddy's--panels are so inexpensive we have that as an option.

That is certainly true of Metal Scooters and motorcycles,Cars etc. But with a Plastic body panel any significant "crash" is going to cause breakage which would be more difficult to repair than to replace.

besides you can order a full set of body panels for around $300. customize to you're hearts content and still have the original body panels if you want to "restore" it to its original color. It is Very cheap to customize a buddy.

BTW, to speak to the OP from way back, all Genuines shipping now are 2013s except Stellas, which are still 2012s.
