Collar Flap

Post by jaylee718 »

So when riding around 40+ mph, the collar on my jacket begins to flap. I have the shop jacket by Corazzo, which I love, except for this annoying flap. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution? (besides buying a new jacket of course)

That's surprising. Most every quality scooter/mc jacket will have either a collar designed specifically not to flap in he wind, or snaps or some such thing to hold it in place at higher speeds. I'm surprised that a Corrazzo would have this issue.

You could try sewing on some velcro or a snap or something to hold the collar flaps down.

I wear the shop jacket, too, same issue. I used to just turn the collar inside out, but now I've pinned it down with AMA membership anniversary pins. If you wanted to be more subtle, you could stitch it down from the back so you wouldn't see the stitching from the front. I've been meaning to do that (and to stitch the elbow pads a little higher for my mutant fat-guy arms)

In all honesty, the shop jacket is clearly leaning to the form side more than the function side. I love it and wear it most of the time because I like armor but don't like looking like a Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger, but I have a more practical jacket for longer trips.

I concur with illnoise on this one. I love the shop jacket, but only wear it for around town riding, generally where the distance isn't long enough for the flapping to really start bothering me. For anything longer, I break out the 5.0 when I can or the mesh when it's too hot.

Yeah, this. The shop jacket is an old style turned into a scooter jacket, not something that was designed with riding in mind. That said, the reason they make it is that many people rock the style and ride in un-armored shop jackets.

You could probably add some snaps to hold the collar down. Maybe even something like a collar stay or weight on the end…?

Same problem here. I just pinned them down with some safety pins. Makes me safer.

Perhaps if you just "pop" your collar it will be fine!
