Sneezing stories

So, twice in the past 2 years I was riding and had to sneeze. Both times I was not able to get my faceshield up in time. Both times I was able to stifle the sneeze enough to where I didn't sneeze through my nose, but not my mouth. After getting over the "ew gross, factor", I got a good laugh, and shortly thereafter a clean faceshield of course!

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had this experience! :P

All the time. I have bad allergies and even pills can't stop some of my sneezing fits. The worst part is having to close my eyes repeatedly.

A modular helmet really comes in handy!

Yesterday, though, yikes. Coming down a hill into a 90° turn with cars on both sides and here comes the sneeze. It scared me more in concept (could have been uglier!) than reality.

Just once so far. I was able to get the shield up just in time (would have been messy otherwise), and being I was at a red light it was perfect timing for the sneeze. Being a lifelong asthma/allergy suffer'er I've learned to react quickly.

rub the roof of your mouth rapidly with your tongue. if you catch it in time, works every time!

The only time when a 3/4 helmet is the preferred protection. :)

This reminds me of the first time I really had to spit while riding, which reminded me, oh yeah, the wind is blowing really hard right back at me.

The worst part is if it happens when it cold and the face shield fogs up and do not get the shield up in time.

yeah ive only been riding a month and already 2 or 3 times ive sneezed in my helmet. my full face helmet >.>. its gross. i try to pull my helmet a little bit and sneeze down, but it doesnt really work. i didnt think to pull up the faceshield, but i always sneeze through the mouth anyway, so it wouldnt do much but blow it back in my face maybe. the sneeze its all over the chin bar , doesnt really hit the visor.

LOL! Great topic. I've sneezed several times and each time I laugh because it's such a peculiar situation. Not something you think about until it happens and then it happens. Fortunately it has never been too icky.

a coworker a few years back had a wad of chew tucked in his cheek. went on a fire, forgot to take it out before masking up. Just kept on rolling with it, figure he'd be fine leaving it in, until he accidentally swallowed it and blew chunks all over his SCBA mask. what a diabolic mess!

Bootscootin'...eww!!

I kept a rag/washcloth/handkerchief in the glove box during allergy season. I usually managed to avoid the visor, but occasionally would need to wipe the inside of the chin guard from beneath.
