If I'm painting my scoot I should probably re-title it with the updated color, no?

You should but only if you what to. Like if a cop puts in your plate and it say red but it's blue he can stop you to find out what's goin on... (But then again I always think why cops don't stop people when it say stella and not vespa PX?)

Here in Georgia, they don't retitle it (that would require you to change the VIN), they just update the color on the title and send you a new paper copy with the updated title.

Cops don't care. If they make a fuss, show them that the VIN matches, explain that you painted it, and they'll let you go... I don't bother to update when I repaint...

Because a Stella is not a Vespa PX. Even though it's modeled after the PX, it's made by genuine and not Vespa- completely different make and model.

Also, if a cop that actually knows enough about scooters ever stops my boyfriend and I and starts asking us questions like that- I will shit myself. And then shake his hand. Not necessarily in that order.

NY is pretty particular with this... when it comes to cars anyway.
My BF's 1997 Jetta has a black front end that we "painted" with spray on Plasti-Dip, and the cop was a jerk about it when we got pulled over for pa-diddle status a few weeks ago (Electronic HID setup + trip to CT + hurricane = Pa-diddle about 15 minutes from home) because from what he saw, the car was black, but the registration says green. About 75% of the car is still green, but he insisted that we re-register it as "Multi."

I doubt you will have a problem on your scooter though. I've noticed a lot more people paint their scooters and motorcycles, or have them painted, and I have yet to hear of a problem from anyone.

prob white with some nice pinstriping on the front panel.

Ya, that makes sense. Changing the color on the title is all I would need.

Do you mean driving with only one headlight? Ha, I haven't heard that in forever!

Ultimately, I'd be concerned if I had to file an insurance claim or if I sold the scoot. All good advice and opinions. Thanks for the feedback.
