How did you do the stripe?

Are the stripes reflective?
+500 if they are!!!
If not, they're still damn sharp looking!

The stripe really adds that extra special touch...especially on the red creating a striking contrast.
Italia special already.

Damn, I want a stripe. Wonder if they come in black? That would look great on my Sunset Buddy.

You can get black reflective stripes. I ordered my reflective checkered stripes from a place called
Harris Decals. Like a lot of the competitors, their web site is pretty lame. I just sent in a request telling them exactly what I wanted and in what size and the worked it up for me, no problem.
For straight-up stripes, you can buy reflective vinyl tape in various widths. Auto parts and boating stores usually carry it; I've seen it go pretty cheap on eBay, too.

As much as I like my SI, I really love the red Buddy with the white stripe. Wonderful!! I have been toying with adding a reflective stripe to my SI, I was thinking gold or green... Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks for the stripes info. I have a visceral negative reaction to shops that focus on Vespas and Lambrettas, but I'll check out the other ideas.

Ericalm,
Can you forward us exactly what you asked them for, since it doesn't appear on their site?
I've been wanting to do something like that too. I want to put reflective black checkers on the back underneath the grab bar.

Howcome? Reverse scooter snobbery?

They had done already so you'll have to ask Seth if they did it there or sent it off, they said they can get it done on any scooter so I don't think it would be a problem for the back but just ask.

Sure! I picked
this stripe, though the have other widths available (may be a little chunky for the Buddy). I then selected "Reflective White" for the main color and "no color" for second and third colors. ("Reflective Black" is an option, too.)
Then I wrote the following in special instructions:
I'd like the decal to appear as if there are only white checks over the bike's color. So, alternating reflective white checks with no color/empty in between.
I got 2 at a mere $6 each!
Application was a little tricky because once you peel off the backing, there's nothing connecting the squares. The method I used was to wet the surface with a spray of water that had a drop of dishwashing liquid in it. Then I squeegeed the vinyl down and popped/smoothed any air bubbles. I used too much water on one side so had to place a few squares manually, but it worked out great in the end.

I was at Metro when Dave was striping a red Buddy. Could it have been yours?. I didn't stay to see it finished. It looks great!

Exactly.

I figure that if the shop's not willing to acknowledge the existence of my scoot, then I'm not the kind of customer they want anyway.
Thanks for the info re: Harris Decals. I'm kind of klutzy about applying stick-on stuff, but will seriously consider their stripes.

As soon as I saw the stripe, I knew you were in the 'Nati and that you were a Metro customer.
Great shop, great people.
