Quick question regarding a battery tender. I was looking into purchasing something like this..
http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media ... F8&index=2
I thought I remember being told at my local scooter dealer that i could charge the battery on my 170i through the cell phone charger adapter on my scooter? My friend has that adapter for his scooter and i tried using his tender to charge my scoot through the cell adapter and i couldn't get it to work? Was my dealer wrong? Am I not doing it properly? Or maybe I never even heard my dealer say it was possible in the first place. Seemed too easy to be true...
Thanks!

Yes, you can charge your battery through the 12V socket on the Buddy. This socket is on a 1Amp fuse, so a charger that delivers more than that will blow the fuse and it won't charge. But the Battery Tender Jr stays below that, and should work fine. The only reason I can think of why it might not work is if the fuse was previously blown. Does the 12V socket work for charging a cell phone?

I just bought the Jr model and I have a 150 Buddy. It charges just
fine when plugged into the 12v outlet on the scooter. When you order
the Battery Tender Jr, be sure and order the extra cable that lets
you do this. I got mine from Amazon for 20.00.

Don't use just any charger. The Battery Tender Jr. senses when the battery is fully charged and stops charging. Unless your charger has this feature, it can harm and/or ruin the battery by overcharging.

There are 4 different indicator ligth combinations on the Tender Jr, Flashing Red (battery not charging), solid red (battery charging), flashing green (battery 80% charged), solid green (maintaining full batt charge). When i plug the adapter into the 12v jack all i am getting is the flashing red.
I will have to check the fuse, where is that located?

The fuse is under the front nose. You need to remove one 10mm bolt (or big Phillips) on the front and two screws on the back of the legshield to remove the front cover. The 1A fuse is in a holder.
If you promise to only plug in a Tender Jr. or a little device like a cell charger, you can get away with putting in a 2 or 2.5A replacement, since 1A fuses are nigh on to impossible to find at the auto parts store. Drawing any more current than that might be a problem, as the wire gauge up there is pretty small.

I tested the 12v jack with my cell phone charger and it worked fine. But for some reason i cannot get this Tender Jr to work. I am only getting a red flashing light from the tender.
It does work when clamped directly to the battery. Is the adapter bad, or is there something i am not doing?

Might need to be rotated in the socket, to make sure there's good contact.
One more thing: there is another glass tube fuse in the Tender's 12v plug - the end unscrews. Have a look.
