Modern Buddy

Going through some of the post's here alot of you, (myself included), will recommend a site for a sale item or quality parts and/or gear.

Checking out some of those sites made me realize that if I was to make a purchase at every one of the recommended sites I would have a rather lengthy registration process and a slew of, 'to remember', password's to sites list.

So I have kind of stuck with just a few that have the quick checkout feature, the one's you that you don't have to register as a user, to make purchase's.
If you have a favorite site that use's this method please list it here, but there are some requirements

• 1. Excepts all major credit cards
  2. Excepts bank debit cards (sort of a credit card but not really)
  3. Excepts PayPal, AlertPay, Neteller, Mycheckfree, etc. or whatever your online paysite may be
  4. Uses the https protocol for secure transactions
  5. Has some type of fraud prevention provision
  6. Has a good return policy
  7. Has a phone number to contact a real live human
  8. Has a postal address

Numbers 1,4,5,6 are the important ones, anything else just sweetens the deal.

Please don't post things like "I don't use credit cards", "PayPal sucks", "Just drive to Walmart and buy it".
Looking for some good input here, and hopefully some new sites to checkout (pun intended).

My two main sites are Scooterworks.com and Scooterloungeonline. Kinda of "bossy" new post bro! Dang.

Eh, I can see why Raider would be worry about people hatin on his post- it would happen on another forum, but this is MB

Lots of people worry how their info is handled over the net- I'm not one of them, but I can't blame 'im.


I have made hassle-free transactions with Scooterworks- who will let you pay with Paypal AND checkout as a guest, I believe (although I went ahead and made an account). Dick's Sporting Goods also does both.

Motorcycle Superstore (dot com) has a hassle-free checkout and ok return policy, and when I needed to talk to somebody I got to a live person right away... but I was very put off by how it was handled. That's just me, others have great things to say about their customer service.

I also have ordered from Cycle Giant (a company that owns about 6 different cycle part and gear related websites), and I think you DO have to make a account with them, but when I encountered a problem with them, they handled it fantastically even though nothing could be done about my problem and were all very nice.

I also have to recommend Revzilla. I haven't actually bought anything from them, but have had to call them a couple of times for sizing advice on jackets... they are awesome, and it's easy to get somebody on the phone and I have every bit of faith in their customer service.

Not trying to sound "bossy", sorry if it came off that way. Just really exasperated with the constant form filling and registration process at all the different sites.
I really like the quick checkout feature since that was made available, just makes the whole process of buying things smoother IMO, kind of like visiting your local convenience store to grab a soda or loaf of bread.
If I think I'll be using a site to make a lot of major purchases, then yes I will register, but if its just to make a one time purchase, like a pair of gloves or a spark plug, then quick checkout works for me.
Today I learned about Revzilla (thanks Edwub) and Cycle Giant (thanks LunaP), which I'll check to see what they have to offer.
So any one else have anything that hasn't already been mentioned?

www.leatherup.com and www.jafrum.com have not yet been mentioned. I have never ordered from Jafrum, but they do offer Google Checkout. I bought a few helmets and a jacket from Leatherup, but haven't had to return anything.

I use the Amazon.com rewards Visa, so I'll shop there if I can (triple points yo) and IF the pricing is comparable. Leatherup, Jafrum, Motorcycle Superstore, Scooterworks, etc. all have stores on Amazon as well, so this works out well for me. Also, I am a Prime member, so if any of the orders are fulfilled by amazon, I get free shipping.

Many of these sites also offer free shipping, but generally if your order is over $90 or $150, depending on the site.

I have a Cycle Gear a few miles down the road from where I work. I've gone there to try on helmets, etc. before and I found that their instore brand, "Bilt" is pretty decent gear. The Bilt stuff is made by other manufacturers (they said Fieldsheer makes some of their Bilt Jackets), but it is sold at very reasonable pricing. I like the option of the local shop too, and the employees have always been really cool, so I've bought a helmet, jacket, scooter cover and rain gear there. I would recommend checking www.cyclegear.com as well (The Bilt Demon modular helmet was like $60, I think, and it's pretty nice plus the Bilt medium scooter cover is about 10x more durable than the Prima one I got with our italia). (*EDIT* - I just saw that same helmet is now $140 )

I think any reputable online merchant will qualify for #'s 1, 2, 4, and 5. Most should allow you to call a person (#7). All have #8 whether or not they disclose it!

I've done dealings with Leatherup but the Jafrum site looks neat. Like that flash deal thing they have going. Great concept so will keep them in the forefront. Thanks SoCalScooter for the contribution.

WOW what a great looking site. Found a great winter jacket(dainese theodore), if I only had $300 to drop now.

That seems to be a problem Raiderfn311, you find something you really like and the price is out of the "comfort budget". Oh well, good things come to those that wait, hopefully you will find that great deal and get that jacket .

Yeah, $300 for a jacket is tough to swallow, plus Im gonna need 2 tires soon. Id rather get stuff for the scoot! Plus I dont want to get in too big of a money hole since I originally got the scoot to be economical. God was I naive. I still love it!

I'm a little in the same boat. If you still also have a car you can try and collect the gear slowly over winter, but then you're spending more money on gas. I think it ends up being 6 one way, a half dozen the other. Sigh.

Revzilla is amazing. They aren't a discount store like a lot of the other places, but their customer service is STELLAR. And they DO have a closeout section you can check. I'm ordering my coat from them... when I get the money.

By the time I get it, it'll be time to turn around and order a mesh coat... I can't win

Yeah I think Im gonna try revzilla for some gloves. And I dont have a car right now! My brother wants to sell me his older model accord to me(Im sure it would be a good price), but thats insurance, gas, upkeep, etc. I keep telling him "no" when he offers, and he(and his wife) just shake their head. Too funny.

I went through this when I bought mine, everybody gave me crap. I could only afford payment on a loan that was around 4K, and I didn't really like the idea of financing a crap car in that price range vs a brand new scoot with a warranty. Gear is expensive, but with the Buddy getting nearly 80+mpg, it's making it's own payment... I'm really only buying my gear and service. Everybody thought I was crazy. But this isn't a new thing to me

I've always gone against the grain, and people have always given me crap for it. I know this will never stop so I have come to peace with it. Im comfortable in my own skin and I know who I am. That's a great point you make on the choice between a crap car and BRAND NEW 170i. Hell Im saving up $(slowly) for my next scoot now! At the end of next year I'll have close to 4k, and Im sure my Buddy will be running fine too(still under warranty). ONLY downside is that I won't risk driving on ice to work, but what are friends for?(or sick days?!?) Hope you have a great weedend Luna!
