I have found several mail order sites for a battery for my Buddy 125. 12 volt 7A-BS is what came from the factory with my 2008 Buddy. I have found prices that range from $22, $29 $32 all the way up to about $70. Is this an item that you get what you pay for? Or is one for $22 just as dependable as the more expensive ones? The original has lasted for over 3 years

Not much different between the major names. The no-names are a crap shoot. You can only hope that they got the chemistry right. When buying cheap no-names, buy by the pound. It takes longer for the acid to eat through the lead on a heavier battery. I did a quick spot check and I've see that same battery type range from 6 lbs to 8 lbs. Once you get the battery you will need a way to charge it. The scooter charging system is more of a maintainer.

Also consider the battery technology - standard wet-cell lead-acid vs. AGM vs. Gel - all will price differently. AGMs seem a little better for powersports applications, according to this tutorial ( www.batterystuff.com/tutorial_battery.html ) as they aren't quite as picky as traditional wet-cell when it comes to deep-cycling, and hold their charge better, but are more pricey.

I just replaced my stock battery with an AGM. We'll see how it goes...
