Modern Buddy

Ever get so excited about something that when you talk to someone about that THEY are excited?

This happens to me a lot. At least until the 3rd time someone hangs out with me and they get tired of my incessant babble. It happened all the time when I was teaching martial arts. I'd come in, proudly sporting a new bruise, and get questions followed by awe.

It also happened yesterday when I braved the crappy weather in the cage to go get some auto supplies. a bit of seafoam for the scooters, and some lucas for the cage (which needs to pass emissions in May, or be scrapped. Prayers, well-wishes and donations accepted!)

When I asked for assistance finding some stuff, a helpful dude showed me right to it. Asked me what I was using it for, and I told him "Scooters!". He lit up. He's been wanting one for a while. We discussed a few different kinds, and sizes. I advised him of the need for a safety class as well as gear to be factored into the cost. Also, I pointed him here and Zumaforums, of course!

I was working on my scooter outside homedepot the other day, a man came up w/ his son and asked me if I needed any tools or help with anything..
next a person came up wondering how much mine cost, how much vespas costed and what not..

then I ride into the city and a homeless lady(i'm guessing) started talking to me when I pulled to the light, wondering how much they costed, where you buy them, and if there was cheaper scooters available. Lots of Genuine interest in scooters that day
Refreshing to have none of them talk about gas mileage and top speed..

This happens to me all the time. Even this morning at work, one of my co-workers came and started asking me about my scooter.

I'm always excited about my new toys. My buds at work are tired of my preaching the merits of scooters.

not to be a wet blanket here, but as far as scooter interest in Charlotte, I RARELY get approached with questions about my scoot. Top that off with the fact that that motorcyclist dont wave and Im not impressed. Im glad to hear others from other places get different treatment. BTW Im a very friendly, easy-going person, so I dont think Im chasing them off.

Denver is a pretty scoot-friendly city. I remember some article still easily found on google saying in 2006 there were many thousands registered here. Even though it gets cold, long term bad weather is really rare. We average 360 days a year of sun.

That being said there are 10 overblown SUV's for every scoot, mostly driven by overcompensating guys shorter than my short self, or soccer moms who are texting. I've long been an advocate that if you have to have a special class/license for motorcycles, you should also have to have one for vehicles that bloody large. I'm also a complete and total raging jerk in my cage because people drive horribly. The scoot tends to chill me out and keep my awareness up.

I do hope 'Dave' signs up here, he'd learn so much about the scoot community!

instead of people driving safely or improving on their driving abilities, people go out and buy bigger and bigger vehicles.. and then there are those who buy vehicles to compensate... america is funny =)

Dallas-Ft. worth area seems to be scooter neutral (I guess is a good term). I get both waves and indifference from motorcyclists plus the cage drivers do seem to respect our place on the road without trying to intimidate us. There are quite a few scooters around the area, more than what the member map indicates.
I've had several people, young and old, ask me about the Buddy.

Still don't have a scoot but my new co-workers' only comments so far are that they are surprised that I'm riding my MC to work when it's so cold.
