Modern Buddy

Here is the response I got from Brett Ratner at Genuine! Finally, finally they are addressing this issue! I am ordering a set today sight unseen. I will report back what I think when they come in. If I like them I will order a set for my wife's Buddy. My dealer said they were going to coat me about $40.00 (the fabulous Scooterville here in Mpls, MN. The best scooter shop with the best people!)

shoulders.

We now have them in stock... part number MRBUD1, which you can order from

Is this on the Buddy 2007 or any Buddy?

When I check my left mirror I can see behind me...almost view my Givi topcase but I don't know if that's because it could be larger than the Genuine Buddy topcase. I can see the curbs on the right side.

The right mirror I don't have as good a visibility but is the mirror visibility a problem for all Buddy owners? Just men or what?

I'm a novice at this scootering so excuse if my questions are ridiculous.

The dealer did tell me to flip them but I can't explain how he did it; I just watched and did it when I got home with mine.

I expect the '06 and '07 are the same.

As for adjusting them, the mirrors themselves are round, but not mounted on the center if you look at the non-reflecting side of them. They can be rotated around that mount, and since they're not centered on the circle it affects how far out from the inside of the bike the mirrors are.

You can also move them around like you would a car mirror to see the parts of the road you prefer.

Yes, do let us know how they work out, and how much wider they sit outboard as compared to the stock mirrors, thanks.

I think the mirrors have been a problem for people with broad shoulders (mostly men but I think I have seen posts from women too. It depends on how narrow or wide you are in general.

By the way there really are no ridiculous questions. What is ridiculous is being afraid to ask.

I have ordered the extended mirrors....

The stock mirror placement did not work for me until I installed a windscreen. This installation moves the mirrors out about an inch (using the included brackets) that makes it workable for regular sized guys. (6', 180 lbs)

I have a mod in process replacing the windshield mirror bracket with a longer Vespa bracket which has 3 holes. I will put the windshield bracket post in one hole, the new extended mirrors in the second hole, and the original stock mirror in the third hole.

When I've got it set up I will post photos. Thanks to Dave Munn @ Scoot Richmond for the email / photo / telephone consultation!

That's good news! I will have to order a set for each of our Buddies!

Could only find these longer stem Genuine Buddy mirrors at Scoot Richmond, via Google...
$40+$9.63 shipping. Too much for a simple set of mirrors IMO , but I ordered em anyway as I feel they're a good safety improvement.

I kept the same, original mirrors. I simply bent them a little farther down at the bend just above the threads. That effectively gave me another 1/2 inch or so, which actually added up to a pretty good improvement in my vision to the rear. Just be careful not to go too far...you will find them striking the headset as you screw them back on.

I'm excited about this. I'm 6ft 5in and 230. I can barely see anything in my mirrors and am constantly craning my head around, which at times, seems not so safe. So I'll order them for sure.

This problem was solved for me when I got the short windscreen put on...the mirrors are remounted on the windscreen extenders and puts them waaay out there. And I does looove my windscreen.

I don't want to add a windscreen to my buddy. I am very excited about the long stem mirrors.

I know Scooterworks has them. Does anyone got their hands on a set yet??

I was tired of looking at my shoulders, so drawing inspiration from the the 'other bikes' at Ducati Seattle, I installed a set of CRG Hindsight LS mirrors. http://www.constructorsrg.com/mirrors/hindsight_ls.html They took a little getting used to, but the convex mirror and outward position of these work great--despite their smaller diameter. They pretty much eliminate the blind spot I was unable to correct, after months of stoplight/intersection adjustments.

I got several compliments from the shop guys at my oil change this weekend on how neat they looked on buddy, to boot!

I've got them, they arrived today, but I haven't installed them yet as my other half had some things for me to do...
But they're about an inch higher in the bend, and extend out past the OEM mirrors by one whole mirror length! (I did hold them up against the old ones to check...)
Gonna install them tomorrow, will let y'all know how they do...

Hey Drumwolf - I saw your post about the broken mirror stem. Bummer! I was hoping to hear from you about your new mirrors soon. Well at least the dealer understands and knew there was a problem when you got the scoot!
