[SSR] - Pat on the back for Motion Pro

Post by charlie55 »

I've been puttering with the CB for a while now, and decided to replace the throttle, front brake, and clutch cables. As with any 35+ year old vehicle, parts are available, but you've got to go digging for them. Well, everything went well with the exception of the clutch cable. The cable cited in all cross-refs and on all of the vendor sites turned out to be a few inches too long, and quite a bit off in other respects as well. I got it cheap enough that it wasn't worth paying return shipping and eating a 20% restocking charge, so I contacted Motion Pro directly.

Long story short, they acknowledged the erroneous info and said they had indeed made a cable for my bike, but that it had been discontinued. However, to make it right, they're fabbing me a custom cable to OEM spec, at no charge whatsoever. To boot, they don't even want the other cable back.

Damned decent bunch of folks. If you need cables or similar stuff for your rides, they're worth looking into.

Wow! You don't see that kind of service much any more.

Did you receive it and install it yet? Did it fit as it should?

If so, as a group, we'll need to keep them in mind when we need something they sell. :)

No, it's gonna take a week or so to fab and ship it. I've been talking to some folks on a CB forum, and it seems that MP did the same for them with excellent results.

This company would have been amazing to know of when I was working on my '65 C100. The speedo cable died on me and I had a hard time finding the exact fit like you were. Can you post the link to their site or info?
