Anyone know anything about the Vespa LX50?

Generally? it's a 2 wheeled 50cc (or thereabouts) scooter made by Vespa...

Need to know anything specifically?

Got an LX50 with no speed. Can get it to 27 mph if I have the throttle in just the right place. Go to full throttle and it seems to choke down. Checked Air Filter, plug, oil, cables, fuse. What should I be looking for to make the scooter scoot?

Though this place is pretty good on general scootology and the Genuine scoots in particular, you might find a more knowledgable crowd over on ModernVespa.com. They may have experience that more closely matches the subsystems (air, fuel, spark, etc.) found on that scoot.

Not trying to run you off or anything, but there are probably more experts there than here.

Sounds like a clogged jet. Has the scooter been sitting for a long while? A carb cleaning might be in order.

A co-worker of mine bought an LX50 on my recommendation a while ago. Top sped with my body weight was 43mph. Solid construction with a steel body, and the usual good fit and finish expected from Piaggio, which is excellent. Rides smooth for a 50, and decent heft without being too heavy. It really is a fine scooter, but don't expect it to get to top speed as fast as some. Average in the way of performance, high in terms of quality.

If I may interject a non-expert opinion, that particular symptom, in cars at least, can often be traced to a clogged fuel filter.

43 is not bad at all for a 50cc. I wonder if it could carry a 200-pounder like myself that fast.

This might be a dumb question, but since it sounds like this is a new scooter for you, has it been derestricted?

How many miles on it? How long have you owned it? Have you had regular maintenance done?
