Modern Buddy

Since most modern scoots have plastic bodies, what do you use to keep the finish protected and shiny?

My old "superscooter" is totally plastic wrapped but most of that plastic is painted. I was advised to use a polish for plastic like Meguiars, which works well but it appears that the Buddy and many others have a molded-in color. Would the same type of polish I use work or would an old standby like Armor All or something be in order?

I protect it by trying not to fall.
I don't worry about "shiny"; it stays that way well enough on its own.

It may just be because my bike is so old now. It had some sunfade on the uppermost surfaces.

They sell some plastic cremes and conditioners at the auto-shops. They probably replenish the antioxidants in the plastic or alternatively act as sunblock for the plastic. Either way its like waxing a car you have to do it regularly to see the long term effects.

S100 cleaner polish.

Hard to beat the S100. Every bike shop sells it.

I've used a plastic polish with UV protectant. Same goes for the exposed rubber bits, which get Auto Glym.

There's also Plexus. Plenty of products out there, you just have to use them until you find one that satisfies your needs.

I use a lot of different cleaners and protectants. I also use the Jesus Juice, Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish.

Meguiar's Quik Detailer has always done the trick for me on the shiny plastic. Kal-Gard made a silicone spray that was fabulous for protecting the non-shiny plastic (protected and kept dirt from sticking) but I haven't been able to find it lately.
