Scooter mechanics in Charlotte

Post by Raiderfn311 »

Shot in the dark here, but does anybody know a good scooter mechanic in Charlotte? Im not thrilled with my dealerships turn-around time. Would a Honda/kawa/yama etc. dealerships know how to work on my Buddy(like a valve-adjustment?). Otherwise I may add valve-adjustments to my growing knowledge. :)

Valve adjustment is really easy and the tutorials on this site are very good. Sorry can't answer your actual question.

I have twice but have not needed to make any adjustments. The actual adjustment looks very simple, loosen nut, adjust screw, tighten and recheck. Besides that you just remove panel, remove 4-8mm valve cover bolts, slide in feeler gauge(in both intake and exhaust), nothing to it. I was intimidated also but needlessly. The only tricky part for me was pulling the hose with clamp between the scooter frame and valve housing. This was because I disconnected the house at the carb instead of at the valve housing(the MB tutorial also dissconnects at the carb). I watched a youtube video that disconnected the hose at the cover but mine was stubborn and didn't want to move at all so I went with the other end. Just a little tricky manuevering the hose clamp between the small space, I used needle nose pliers to pinch the clamp allowing room to get through.

Check out the Charlotte Scooter Cult. Quite a number of buddy riders in that group, and they're good people. Wilson (he's on here as well) runs the group, I think. If you need some first-hand recommendations or what-not, or just some people to ride with, it's a good group. :)
