Genuine Scooter Co. big kahuna Philip McCaleb is embarking on a tour of dealerships to meet and ride with owners like us. The Boston even last year was great and the next one is going to be in my backyard.
There will be two meeting locations: Route 66 Modern Classics in Marina del Rey and NoHo Scooters in North Hollywood. We'll ride to Griffith Park, merge to form single mass of Genuine Scooter Awesomeness, then roll out en masse to see some sites and arrive at our final destination in downtown LA where we'll have food, beverages and a chance to mingle.
Please RSVP for one of the meetup locations so we know how many riders to expect and how many mouths to feed!

We want to ride with you guys that day! I need to borrow the Buddy from Marina and Kevin can ride the ET. This isn't a Genuine product exclusive ride is it?
Just checked the FB invite and yes, we need to ride a Genuine product. Waahhhh.

Come on up!
Since it is a Genuine ONLY ride, I shudder to think how we would get our 340 pounds of flesh up there 2 up. Now if we had that promised cruiser, it would be no issue.
sigh

I think I might do this one! I've been itching to do another scoot ride. Honestly I'd even prefer to go to NoHo to meet (and re--meet) people from LASG before the ride begins, but I'm way closer to Rt66.
That is..I'd do this one if Blurs were listed
Genuine Scooter Company is having a customer appreciation rally on Sunday March 4th. Only those with Genuine Scooter Company bikes may attend. This includes Buddies, Stellas, Black Cats, Rattlers, Roughhouses, and Black Jacks. One group will leave from NoHo Scooters at 10:30, and another from Route 66 Modern Classics at 10:00. The groups will join into one at Griffith Observatory before leaving for our final destination for food, fun, and shenanigans. Please RSVP if you are attending.
BLURS?

Hmm.. that was from NoHo.
Rt 66's event on facebook:
Please join us for a great escape on Sunday, March 4th. We're joining forces with the Genuine Scooter Company, Noho Scooters and ModernBuddy.com for a Genuine owners only ride. So hop on your Buddy, Stella, Blur, Rattler or Rough House and hit the streets of LA for a rearing good time.
Let's meet up at our scooter shop in Marina Del Rey at 11am to leave promptly at 12noon. We'll head to the Griffith Observatory and then to a cool spot where Philip McCaleb will be treating everyone to lunch!
No Blackjacks, eh? IT"S A CONSPIRACY.
Maybe all of us peeps on Blackjacks and Blurs would raise the awesome level too much to start in the same ride, and have to be split for the sake of scooterists everywhere

You know, too much scooter envy
sidenote: the times listed in event descriptions don't match up properly

Blurs are definitely welcome!
ALL Genuines!
For those non-Genuine riders: Welcome to ModernBuddy.
As I said to one person from our scooter group who inquired about it, if the CEO of Piaggio North America (or Honda, Yamaha, Kymco, whatever) came to town and wanted to do a Piaggio (or Honda, Yamaha, Kymco, whatever)-only ride and buy lunch, that would be great.

Also, just emailed Rt. 66 to verify their time. Hoping it's 10, because if not we have to change the time at NoHo.
Our route from NoHo to Griffith will be great, including a jaunt on Mulholland Dr. and a stop at the Hollywood Reservoir.

Anyone from Ventura or Santa Barbara counties thinking of going? For that matter, is anyone on these forums from this area?

by ericalm
Tom are you a member of the Ventura Co. Vultures group? Might be worth posting there or seeing if they'll email it out to people.
http://www.meetup.com/Ventura-County-Ve ... oter-Crew/
Many of them are also LA Scooter Group members, so would have gotten the email I sent to the group.

Ventures, lol! Yes. We have many members, but sadly none on Genuines but myself- (that I know of).
I think I will post it though in the off chance that there is one who is just not very active, maybe that will bring them out of hiding..
And maybe I should ask the local dealer too if they know of anyone.
By the way Eric, you going to the poppy preserve ride? I did RSVP for that one for the Ventures side, hope to meet you there. I think your club is doing that too right?

Vultures, ha. Oops. Possibly auto-corrected.
Yup! This is our 3rd year doing the poppy ride and it's gotten so popular that the Ventures and 909 are joining in this year. I'll be there!

Either group have a route map yet?
I'm closer to Rt66 but might prefer to leave with the NoHo group.
(But because I'm so close to Rt66, it's a long pre-ride to solo).
I thought I'd let the destinations/routes help make my mind up

Not sure about Rt 66, but the NoHo group is going to go up to Lake Hollywood overlook, take an out of the way detour down Mulholland Dr., then back down into Hollywood to Griffith Park.
Mike from NoHo and I are running the route tomorrow morning so I'll know for sure then!
Looking at 80° and sunny Sunday. Amazing!

Naw, he'd have us all riding to via Mulholland all the way to Topanga Canyon, down Kanan to the coast, PCH down to Rt 66, then back to Hollywood via Mulholland again, then a loop across Griffith Park going both ways, then…

My reputation precedes me.

(And you can bet it's taking the scenic route too)

I can't wait until they hit the East Coast... although I hope they take their time, so I can not be semi-bed ridden still. Maybe walker-able at least.

The route we plotted from North Hollywood is about as beautiful and varied a ride as you get in the LA city limits. Haven't plotted on a map yet, bhut it goes like this:
North Hollywood > Coldwater Canyon > Mulholland Dr. > across Cahuenga Pass into Hollywood Hills > through the hills then to the Lake Hollywood reservoir and a stop under the Hollywood sign > down Beachwood Canyon then into Griffith Park and up to the Observatory where we meet Route 66's group > down into Los Feliz, then down Rowena to Silver Lake > around the Silver Lake Reservoir > up to Elysian Park > past Dodger stadium, then into downtown > Chinatown > famous 2nd street tunnel > past Disney Hall then down to LA Live.
Both groups will be getting some gorgeous riding in! I'm excited about tomorrow!

Our dealer here was in the top 5 - maybe Genuine will come down here when the weather warms up.

Arizona and the Big Easy are next.

Oh wow! That's a nice LA tour. It's gonna be especially fun at LA Live since the Lakers and Heat are playing across the street at that time too.

What a great day today! Excellent route. Excellent people. Excellent fun. It really was such a hoot to meet everyone from the west side and to have so many Genuine's riders together. Such a nice bunch of people.
Thanks to NoHo Mike and Eric for putting together a great route. And of course a huge, huge thanks to Phil McCaleb and Genuine Scooters for making the day possible! I am Genuinely grateful.
If a Genuine Appreciation ride is coming to a city near you I highly recommend going. You're sure to have a great time.

Thanks to NoHo Scooters, Rt 66 and most of all Philip McCaleb and Genuine.
Thanks also to Skootz for bringing up the rear on the Roughhouse 50.
Extra big props to the San Diego and Palm Springs who came out for this and to those who rode in from distant locales.
