Modern Buddy

I can't seem to find any information anywhere on the net regarding changing the air filter on a 2009 Buddy 125. My Buddy now has 3,200 miles on it and the air filter has never been replaced or cleaned. Should I clean it at this point or should I replace it? If I do decide to clean it, can anybody instruct me on how to do so? I don't have but a basic tool set. Should I remove the filter and take it to the gas station to an air machine to blow compressed air on it to clean it. Also, do I have to spray it with oil before I replace it? I have no problems changing my oils. I know this is probably easy stuff but I rely on my Buddy way too much to take any risks. I'd appreciate any help you're willing to offer. Please help!

The Buddy filter is better replaced than cleaned. You won't need any filter oil. Very easy to replace, requiring nothing but a Philips screwdriver if I recall correctly.

I took the air filter out this evening and realized it is in fact a dry filter. Funny because the manual I have specifically says for the 125 model, to clean the air filter you must do so with compressed air and spray with approximately 5 grams 10W30 motor oil. Wish they'd come with a better owners manual...

We ALL wish they came with better manuals. I'm gonna ask my dealer if he can get me a service manual. I know you can download it here but I would like a hard copy. Thanks for the post BTW, I have a new filter at home that Im gonna put in my Buddy this weedend.

When necessary, I just print the sections of the PDF that I need. I've also used it on my phone. Much easier than having a full printed copy!

I've never changed the filter on my 150, just used our compressor to blow it out. It might have been changed during one of the two services I've had done at a shop - don't know. As for the manual, for me the tutorials I've found here and in other places around the net have been much more useful. The manual says things like, "to replace the filter, remove the filter". Well, duh. How do I remove the filter? It's not useful, as far as I'm concerned.
