I've seen a few people, and Genuine, post this on the facebooks lately, and have yet to see it shared on here, so here it is.

The article tells about several studies done on motorcycle riders and ex/non-riders that proves higher cognitive functions, better memory, the stress-relieving effects of riding, and lots of other good stuff for the daily rider. Definitely worth a read!

Cool article, thanks for sharing. I've been riding all my life, but apparently not enough to receive any benefit as stated in the article.

I just leave them in the scooter.
Now if I could only remember where I parked it.

I don't know about the higher cognitive or memory functions (could very well be...I'd like to believe that!), but I totally agree about the stress-relieving effects, as well as making me a more observent driver when I'm in a cage.

This really is one of the reasons I ride. I've noticed a distinct difference in difficulty (or ease) in focusing when I ride regularly compared to when I don't. If I go not quite a week without riding at all, there's a noticeable drop.

I rode to Naval Air Station Ft. Worth from my home in Mesquite and back today. About 115 miles total. Couldn't pass up the chance to ride in this beautiful weather (77 degrees F). About six hours total and I feel great. I'm getting on in years and several things like bursitis, peripheral neuropathy and a mishmash of other things don't let me exercise. Riding the scooter has really improved my outlook and awareness levels.
Saw a whole bunch of scooters and motorcycles out and about today. If I didn't wave it's because I was watching the potholes and didn't see you in time.

While riding (Scooters/bikes)has helped me in life, mentally. I have to say at work, it's a different story. I find myself thinking about all things riding. A scooter goes by, and i think what it would be like to ride that one, a motorcycle goes by, and I think maybe I should sell one of the scooters and get one, a bike goes by and I'm thinking what a nice day for a ride it is.
A customer has a problem, and I think, If I was riding this wouldn't be a problem....

Interesting but I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Still, if they were monitoring brain activity, I guess they know......
Anyway, with my new long commute, I've been taking the bike when the weather is OK and although I do feel pressure going TO work since I have to punch a clock, I always look forward to the ride home, even now, after making the exact same trip for about two months.
I do believe my mind has less tendency to wander but I don't know if it's because I HAVE to devote that much brain activity to controlling the bike or if I'm simply enjoying myself and don't WANT to think about anything else.

Good information. I consider daily riding as PT for my brain. That, along with my daily dose of Jeopardy!
