Scooter baths: Am I the only one...

...with a garage that takes the opportunity when I get home to get out the blue paper shop towels and wipe down my helmet & scooter after I rode home in the rain?

It just seems like the perfect time to get all the dirt off and clean the wheels, etc.

So, it makes my commute home a bit longer when I factor in the scooter wipe down, but I think it's worth it. :)

I don't have a garage, but I have access to a hose and, if I choose to make the drive to my parents, a covered carport.

When I got my scoot, I knew I was going to be pretty OCD about cleaning it. I found to BOGO (buy one get one) free rebate coupons for Armor All products. Lokky and I both already had a cleaner, so I got stuff for the rims, stuff for the white walls, a foamer made to clean rusty gunk and grime, and wax. I also found this Meguiar's leather & vinyl cleaner, which worked very well on my white seat and was indeed nonslip... I was impressed with it. Lokky and I also use Plexus to clean our helmet visors and our windshields on our scooters.

Anyway, point is, I made sure I had the products to give her a gooooood bath when I had the time and it looked like she needed it.

I keep a kitchen towel in the pet carrier, which I use to wipe off my helmet and windshield if I ride in the rain. I don't do it for vanity purposes, though. For my helmet, I do it because I don't want leave it sitting wet in my topcase for fear of it getting musty. For both the helmet faceshield and windshield, I do it to prevent having to look through dried water drops on my next ride. Right now, my scooter really needs a bath, though. It's something I look forward to each spring; having weather that's nice enough to get out the hose and bucket and make my trusty scooter shine. Alas, rain is in the forecast for at least the next few days, so no bath this weekend.

I wash my scooter every time I ride in the rain. That is, the rain does. :)

Meguiars has some good products for keeping things nice. Spray on and easy to use quick detailer and waxes that I have been very happy with.

For whiewalls Coker Tire has a product Wide Whites which has a citrus
ingredient which works very good not a harsh chemical which may cause the white to turn color. Also it keeps the white rubber in good condition, clean, and white.

But yeah, I try to wipe my bike/scoot down with a clean towel when I get home and she's wet.

I try biweekly (during rainy/wet road/dirt splash) or monthly (dry times) at a car wash using low pressure rinse & garden hose on sidewalk in front of townhouse after the nightly temps warm up

LOL...I have 3 scooters, so I vary between them, not riding when it is too cold--as in frost on the ground--or raining when I leave for work. I don't mind riding home in the rain, but I don't like to have wet gear sitting around all day at work.

Luckily on the days it rains, it often doesn't rain while I'm out in it, so the scooters don't get rained on too much. I just don't like to have wet bikes sitting in the garage I guess.
