New Buddy 125 Owner

Hey, new to the forum here.

I've had a 85 Honda Aero 50 for a little less than a year and wanted to move on, just sold it a few days ago. I have had a ton of issues with it, I just recently had to rewind the stator exciter coil because I lost spark and found the coil to be open. I wanted something bigger (at 6' 190lbs the Aero felt a little small), more speed and the ability to carry a passanger.

Anyways, I found a 2009 Buddy 125 on Craigslist, has a little under 4,000 miles and is in great condition, got it for $1,300. The only spot is the plastic by the handlebars on the left side, it looks like it got hot from something and warped a little. Also, I cannot get the hazzards to work. I looked up the manual and the hazzard switch is marked as number 6 but the controls explanation only goes to 4, lol. Is there a certain sequence I have to do or does it just not work? Other than that it runs great and has been really fun. I need to get my motorcylce license now

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but the hazards on my scoot only work when the ignition is on. How boneheaded is that?????

Yep, hazards only when the key is in, which stinks. I like having them on when I park in the alley and open my gate, since some of the more trendy people have decided that's a great time to turn in at 35mph and fly down said alley.

But, no one has hit it yet!

Congrats on a great deal! What color is it?

I thought I tried with the key in the start position too, hmm, I'll try it again I guess.

Color is flat black, looks pretty good actually. i wanted more of a sporty look like the Zuma has but this retro look is actually growing on me. The headlight is horrible though, even on high. I also don't like the color of the gauge light, I'll probably through some cool white LED's in there

As someone who also owns a Zuma, I can understand where you're coming from. Fewer people give me grief on the black 50cc zuma than the 150 italia, as if they expect the Zuma to go 100mph.

Lots of people mod them to go ridiculous speeds. SOME people put tons of time and money into machines that need rebuilding every 6 months, even though the top speed is still only about as much as a scooter that costs $400 more, without the smooth running and stressing the poor engine out.

SOME people are innovative and creative, thus racing tuned machines are born.

Others are just idiots with more money than brains

We are planning on getting Zumi properly transmission tuned, so that I maintain the quicker takeoff but get to a more normal top end. right now it's fairly fast (for a 50cc anyway) but tops out at 32!
