New Buddy 50cc owner

Post by Scootster »

Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. Its great to find a place to talk about the buddy! My name is Josh and I bought the buddy for easy transit to and from ASU. I am attending ASU for Mechanical Engineering a little later then I like but better late than never. I have always been into tinkering around with my cars and bikes so I hope the aftermarket components keep comming for the buddy 50. After I graduate, I plan on designing motors and such, maybe even for scooters who knows. Anyway, thanks for all the participants on this forum and a link to support the forum would be nice also as I would hate to see this site go bankrupt!

How long have you had your Buddy 50?

Perfect transportation for getting around ASU.

You have a topcase or what do you carry your belongings in?

Welcome

Welcome! I love the area around that campus. I've been there in the middle of July - you get mighty hot down there!

Keep the rubber side down.

Eh, I just use my Swiss Army backpack for carrying stuff. My Buddy 50 doesnt really like carrying much more than my 210 pound frame plus books and a 4inch chain lock. Kinda feel bad for the little guy, but he does well. I was going to put the 70cc kit on but they are telling me it will void the warantee so Im going to wait a year or two.

Yeah the heat here is no fun for people who just moved here. I am a native AZ'n so I manage most of the time.

I am curious how much people are paying for insurance on thier scooter, maybe a poll would be insightfull.

We pay $135 for full coverage for the year through American Family with our other policies.

Welcome to the Buddy world!

Better late than never is right. I worked for 10 years full-time while attending school part time, but I finally finished my bachelors in electronics engineering tech. Glad I did, or I probably wouldn't have a Buddy right now. ;)

Welcome Josh. My younger brother is an ASU grad.

The problem with an insurance poll is that rates very wildly according to a lot of factors. The only person you can really get a good comparison with would be a Buddy 50 owner who is also male, your age, lives in Tempe and has the exact same riding experience and licensing as you do and is getting the exact same coverage. Any one of these can result in differences as high as a couple hundred bucks a year.
