TST has participated in many rides for charities. We have decided that even though we are doing this for personal reasons, why not do something to benefit a great organization; Surfers for Autism; a 501(c)3 foundation.

After all...surfers can be a bit off beat, a little crude, marching to the sound of a different oboe player...in other words...our kind of people!

We are accepting pledges for miles ridden. As the CBR is notorious for destroying scooters we are requesting a minimum pledge of a penny per mile for the 2,500 mile run. Thats right...only one cent, a copper, an Abe, one onehundreth of a dollar, micro moolah! Let's face it, a penny is barely money anymore! Toss a penny to SFA for each mile! Well I might as well keep you updated here for now until we hit the road.

I was doing a custom build for the CBR and documenting it here

Unfortunately, I was deployed overseas in August for work. My motor is back....in a box...and most of the GL is in ziploc bags. I got it to the point where it was totally stripped down and sanded almost ready for paint.

I'll be completing that build....but....what to ride on the CBR?

Well if you were at Amerivespa NOLA and noticed the second place rat....that's the scooter.

1967 GT

The scooter that I will be riding is a 1967 Vespa GT. Never imported to the US (still has the Italian registration bolted to the legshield)

This is what it looked like when I bought it






It had been brought over by Moto Bravo and had a modified kitted motor in it. When I bought it it had been ridden hard with apparently no maintenance for years. Bocette couldn't believe that I dragged her to St. Augustine for "that piece of junk."

Mods made before I bought it

1983 P125x motor
Cases heavily ported
Malossi 166cc top end...ported to match cases
p200 tree,
p200 clutch
Mazzy cut crank custom expansion chamber with prima stinger
Modified dellorto 24/24 carb

Since then I have replaced the top end (siezed at 60 mph )
replaced all inner an outer cables, selector box,added mirrors
new brakes
FA Italia rims with Heideneaus
added CHT
Rebuilt front suspension down to the axel
BGM adjustable front dampner
Claus studio rear top shock mount
Smallframe seat
Prima adjustable rear shock
Mud guard ornament.
and some other stuff I can't remember

I haven't done anything to the body except add a few scratches, stickers and drill some holes.

I've done a lot of work to it but I have some prep to do before the CBR including.

Drop the motor
install P200 23 tooth cosa clutch with Carbon Fibre plates and MMW basket
Replace motor mounts with claus Studio mounts
Install tach and EGT
mount rear rack and 1.5 gallon tour tank, plump it in
mount windshield and gps
install floor rack
rebuild carb.
change out front hub
Change to SIP tubeless rims with 75mph speed rated tires
Mount battery to run gps

I'll be starting work on it in a couple of days so I will keep you posted

Wow that is going to be sweet. You're really going all out for this, BR. That scooter has 1000 stories to tell, no doubt.

Got to work on the GT.

Pulled the tank and dropped the motor



Replaced mounts with CS. It was a bear getting the old ones out!



Pulled the clutch...looks like just in time!






Will be replacing with newfren with MMW basket and fiber plates...tomorrow
