Blackjack wheels vs 2006 Buddy 50 wheels

They look about the same...anyone know if they would interchange?

Thinking of possibly doing a Blackjack-ripoff on my black '06.

Like painting the wheels red and doing whitewalls.

Thoughts??

Thanks

My only thought is regarding the total lack of quality whitewalls on the market. There just aren't any decent quality tires out there. Granted, you are on a 50cc so performance is not quite the same an issue, but even so, the tires available these days are bad enough that on my St. Tropez I've abandoned ww's in favor of better performing and longer lasting blackwalls.

the wheels for the 125/150 will not fit the buddy 50 without swapping out some other parts first. I think all you really need is the front fender but I'd check with a dealer. my guess is that you'd also have to buy some new rear brake parts too. It would be way easier to just have the buddy 50 wheels powder coated red.

As for white walls. My Italia came with them and I did not like how they handled in wet conditions at all. Ended up going with a set of Michelin S83s and they do much much better in wet conditions.

Thanks for the replies.

That's what I was afraid of.

So NONE of the whitewalls are very good it seems.

Even for the little bastard 50?

Anybody else running whitewalls on a 50 with good results?

It's my 3rd scooter so I don't use it for very long trips or really in the rain if I can help it.

I was thinking about doing the same!

I have a black buddy with the Shinko whitewalls.

The BLACKJACK is what got me interested in the Buddy in the first place. I like the hot rod color scheme and was even thinking about getting matte black vinyl to wrap my scooter.

I was going to paint my wheels red like the blackjack but decided against it because of the styling. It's a matter of personal opinion but I don't think the 3 spokes on the buddy 50 are well suited for the hot rod look.

I can't wait to hear more about getting blackjack wheels on the 50!

It's never easy...is it?

kungfooren...seems like we may have very similar taste.

Mine's glossy black now too. I've never been a fan of whitewalls but just absolutely love that hot rod look on the Blackjack.

But you're absolutely right about the 3-spokes. It would look like crap.

SO in a perfect world, I'd love to fit a set of BLACKJACK/ other Buddy 125 wheels on my 50.

Or find some other custom style wheels.

Was trying to do this budget-friendly :fp:

I did a crappy 2 min photoshop job to see what painting the stock wheels red might look like. I also tried black but didn't like it.

Not great but better than I had originally though.

While I do like the whitewalls on the BJ I think blackwalls work just as well. They lend to the blacked out look of the scoot and contrast well with the solid red wheels.

That said while I favor the look of the solid red wheel, I do not favor its design. I can't get a chain or ulock through 'em. I like the above wheels for the Buddy :)

Oh, and you can "paint" just about any tire wall white, btw. Just be patient and do it right. It'll be just as durable as a factory job.

silly me.

I just realized that the buddy 50 international has red wheels.
Can someone do a color change on this thing?

I color changing to black is pretty tough.
