okay. I'm the guy who bought the 125 in creme this morning...
more questions.
is it me or was the owners manual translated from italian with google translator?
just kidding.
actual question:
according to my owner's manual, I'm not suppose to open the throttle more then half way for 150 miles....
all day I had the thing wide open, at one point I was cranking up a hill at 50-55 mph (according to the bikes gauges)
how big of a mistake was this novice riding, and beating of my 125 engine....?
did anyone else ignore this advice?
cheers,
dan.

I was told to go easy on it while it warmed up (60 sec minimum) and then vary the rpms as much as possible. This was from the Ducati dealer I bought it from. They did say that after the warm up, it was okay to go full throttle, but not to maintain constant rpms of any level for too long.
This seems to be pretty standard for most of the new motors that I have heard of, but I don't have much motorcycle/scooter experience.

Actually, the manual was translated from Chinese.
Most mechs say the most important thing during break on is to vary RPMs, as the others have said. It's incentive for hitting 150 miles as soon as you can.

Check the Buddy 50 owner's manual...the mileage breakdown could be different from the 125.
Seems to me when I checked into buying the 50 or 125, the 50 is not suppose to go at 30-35mph full throttle for long periods of time. I bought the 125 so I could ride at those speeds w/out being hard on the engine. I usually ride in speed zones of 30-40mph.
