Modern Buddy

Are these actually supposed to be useful? Maybe because I'm only 5 feet tall.. but I can't see anything I actually might need to see behind me. They are tilted at the wrong angle, can they be adjusted somehow?

The mirror heads adjust. There's a ball-and-socket joint where the stalk meets the mirror head. Be gentle, but it will move.

I also loosened the nut and rotated the mirror stems forward a bit. If you do this, the right one is reverse thread and be sure you tighten them down good afterward.

Be sure to adjust the mirror heads so that you aren't looking at your own elbows. You want them pointing to the sides and back so you can see where you would make a lane change. I pretty much get mine where I see this area and it also allows me to see directly behind me, too.

Is there anything to keep in mind if I wanted to replace my stock mirrors? I was browsing for something shorter stemmed and maybe oblong instead of round. Seems like they should be easy to switch out, as I just had to tighten my right mirror yesterday after some killer winds.

replacing them is really easy, and a quick search for buddy mirrors will net a good amount of threads.

Finding ones you LIKE on the buddy though..is tough.

I've found the Yamaha c3 mirrors worked better for me. They are shorter and oblong. There's a thread around here somewhere about them. Have fun!

I put the c3 mirrors on my Zuma, boy is that better.

I second turning out your mirrors a little bit. I can see the entirety of both lanes behind me with no problem and I'm 5' 1.75" short. If you still find that you can't get the mirrors to work for you, there are others out there that will fit on the Buddy, like the Yamaha C3 mirrors that quite a few folks here have installed.


EDIT: Mine only came loose one time because I installed windshield hardware and didn't tighten them up enough/use enough thread lock.
And I'm not worried about them being long because lane-splitting is illegal in NY anyway.

I didn't mind the view from the long stemmed mirrors but I'm done with them getting loose and being a general pain. I like the look of the orig mirrors but I, too, have C3 mirrors on order (in black). Gonna see how they work.

i had the short version of the original, better for me in terms of the look and lane splitting. i was lucky they didn't come loose for 11 months until i switched to the Vipers.
