How do they attach? Nothing in the grip I can feel that will catch the threads from the bolts they supplied (using the longer ones). The grip will hold them from just the rubber but somehow I doubt that is right.

Do I need:
a) Longer bolts
b) To hire magical faries to live in my grips to hold them in place
c) A new scooter that they work with

I don't know about the set in the link you provided but mine came with a rubber stopper that goes inside the handlebar tube.
When you tighten the hex screw, the rubber bulges/expands and holds them in place.

In fact, the ones you linked to are the only set I see without the rubber piece.
