Starter Dead

Hey guys,
New to the forums, and new owner of a Buddy Psycho I just picked up 2 days ago.
As soon as I got it home after the first ride, the starter stopped working and everytime I start it again I have to use the kick start (and even then it takes several kicks to get it going.)
I'm a complete newbie to owning a scooter, what are the potential issues here? I've only got about 40 miles on the scooter so far.
Edit: The dealer I got it from wont be open again until Tuesday, thats why I figured I'd check here and try to troubleshoot before then.

Is the headlight working? Sounds like a simple dead battery or perhaps one that the dealer didn't charge properly. If the battery is dead the healight won't be working when the scooter is not running.
A couple of kicks to get the scooter started is not unusual. If the battery is indeed dead there is no harm in riding the scooter like that. You might just check that the connections to the battery are tight. Just pull up the floor mat and you'll see the top of the battery compartment. Open it up and make sure everything is snugly connected. But definitely take advantage of your 2-year warrantee and take it back to the dealer for a good going over.
Bummer to have this happen right out of the gate. But I have no doubt it is a very minor issue.

Hold on, Skootz - the headlight runs off the stator and does not come on unless the engine is running. It does NOT come on when the ignition is switched on, at least on my 2009 150.

I'm willing to bet you aren't holding the brake lever when you use the electric start. The electric start requires holding one of the brakes in. The kick does not.
And PeteH is correct, the headlight does not light until the scooter is running.

Good point about the brakes, JMazza.

You are right. I stand corrected. Clearly my dyslexia is acting up today
