Modern Buddy

Has anyone transported their buddy in the back of a minivan before? I don't have an immediate need for this.. but was just thinking about when we go camping etc. I guess the hard part would be lifting it up, and then you would need something to strap it down with?

I haven't done it personally, but there's photo evidence on MB of a Bud (mirrors removed) fitting neatly into a Dodge Caravan with the seats out. The seat lock tracks make for VERY good tie-down points.

Don't see why not...I carried mine home in the back seat of a Chrysler Sebring convertible. Of course the top was down, but case in point...anything is possible.

Showed mine in the back of RAV4 a while back. Seats had to be taken out first though

I heard maybe drain the gas tank dry beforehand and its fine. Maybe this is obvious to some idk? Just thought I would mention it.

I don't know about a minivan. I have a cargo rack that slides into the trailer hitch reciever on the back of my SUV. I brought my Buddy 125 home with that. We lifted it up on the rack and strapped it down with the rachting straps. My son helped me lift it down when I got home.

You'll still want to tie/ratchet it down as if it's in the back of a truck. Do not transport the scooter leaned on its side! (Seems obvious, but it happens… a lot.)

I've done it!
I used a 2010 Chrysler T&C, and drove from Florida to Portland Oregon (in 46 hours - I was in a rush)!!
Fits perfect with mirrors removed, and no need to lean. I packed some blankets around it, and used a ratchet strap so she didn't roll around!

It actually fit inside my 2006 Ford Explorer also, but needed some leaning and took some sweat to get it in!

Simply have to remove the mirrors for clearance.
In fact I have had 2 Buddys side by side very comfortably. The hooks on the floor where my seats remove are perfect anchors for my tie downs.

As far as lifting it up, look at getting an inexpensive ramp. I got my at Harbor freight.
I think it was one set consisting of 2 ramps, for $50. I sold the other one to a friend.

I'm not a small individual, so it helps it you enlist some help, or are able to manhandle your Buddy by yourself. (Woops. I just read that last part. I was referring to my scooter. Get your mind out of the gutter.)

You'd be amazed how much gas pours out and how quickly if the scooter falls over...especially if you filled up recently. My scooter got knocked over this last weekend. It was only over for maybe 5-10 seconds, but I think about 1/3 of a gallon spilled out in that short of time. I think I had filled up maybe 8 miles previously...

If youve got a honda element they are made for transporting scooters, and camping!
here's my example:

I left my seats in the car (but flipped them up to both sides) and got my old Honda elite 150 inside my Honda element

I have had 2 KYMCOS in a conversion van with rear seats removed. Had to remove mirrors and tie them secure for the ride. Gas may want to drain?
One ramp which is usually used to raise the front end of a car was used to get in and out of the van.

The few times my 170 ended up sideways, I didn't have any major visible gas spillage... but it did take a few or many tries to get the engine to turn over after righting it, as if the engine had been flooded or gas had gotten into that little space it's not supposed to under the gas cap and needed to vent or burn up or something.
