Hi everyone,
Looks like the 3.0-10 Shinko whitewall on my buddy 50 needs replacing. I can't figure out significant differences between the 90/90 and 3.5. I just want to confirm that both will fit the buddy 50 wheels. There's also some pricing discrepancy between them. Sometimes the 90/90 is more expensive and vice versa. I'm also planning to run tubeless this time.
I'm surprised I have 3.0-10 from the dealer since the manual says I should be running a 3.5-10
Thanks
90/90-10 or 3.5-10 for Buddy 50

I checked out another buddy 50 today and it was running 90/90-10 which is slightly wider than the 3.5-10. In fact, I think most of the buddy 50s run a 90/90kooky scientist wrote:Stick to the smaller tires on a Buddy 50, otherwise you will have to remove the splash guard that goes over the rear tire. I learned the hard way when we put tires from a 125 on a 50. That rear splash guard caused some problems on the ride home.

I believe the tire sizing and type that came on the Buddies when new goes like this:
Buddy 50 w/ blackwall - 90/90 - 10 tubelees
Buddy 50 w/whitewall - 3.00 - 10 tube type
Buddy 125 w/ blackwall - 3.50 - 10 tubeless
Buddy 125 w/ whitewall - 3.50 - 10 tube type (2007 Italia)
Buddy 125 w/ whitewall - 100/90 - 10- 10 tubeless (White edition)
Buddy 150 and 170 w/ blackwall 100/90 - 10 tubeless
Buddy 150 and 170 w/ whitewall 100/90 - 10 tubeless
I'm pretty all the wheels are the same so if your scooter came with tube type tires all you need to do to go tubeless is add valve stems.
