Electric choke

How do you test the electric choke on a Buddy 50. If it has failed, will it be impossible to start the scooter? The only way I can get mine to start is with starter fluid, and it dies as soon as the starter fluid is burned off.

What's happening when you try to start it?

Still under warranty?

Won't start. Have spark, fuel, compression. Carb was full of crud. Took it apart and throughly cleaned. Jets are open, float works properly. Starts readily with starter fluid, but dies when starter fluid burned up.

So the starter is engaged and active but there's no ignition, right?

Could be the choke, but giving it some gas via the throttle would overcome this. If you've tried cranking the throttle a bit while starting, then it's likely some other fuel delivery issue.

Did you also drain and replace the gas?
