Modern Buddy

I got my BV350 yesterday. I took it for a one mile test ride at the shop, and then had to put it up for the day because of some family obligations.

When I got back to Bellingham today I took it out for a quick ride. I went on I5 through Samish Pass then on some twisty backroads to a BBQ place. I grabbed lunch and took it home from there.

The speed limits were between 25-70 mph. The BV350 definitely needed to be pushed around a lot more than the Buddy to get it to turn at low speeds, but once it was above 15 mph the bike handled beautifully. Pushing the bike around in the garage and onto my car's scooter rack was just as easy as the Buddy. On the freeway it was dead stable. I was able to get up to about 80 mph (90 mph indicated) quickly. Passing was no problem and I still had a ton of throttle left to play with.

The seating position felt perfect. I am 5'11", 200 pounds, and have a 31" inseam.

New scooter, beautiful weather, and BBQ. What else could I want?

Nice! But isn't there a break-in procedure for the scooter? I'm surprised they let you take it up to 90 bvmph.

Agreed. Dont keep it there long dude! Vary the RPMs, no wide-open-throttle for extended periods.

Congratulations!!! My experience has been much like yours. Quick, plenty of throttle, stable at speed. Great brakes as well . I am 5'9" with a 30" inseam. The bike fits me comfortably also. So is yours black or silver?

They told me to keep it around 80% for the first 625 miles. I don't think I even got up to that, and I was gentle with it when accelerating. I have no idea what the top end for it would be, or how fast it could get there if I really opened her up.

I got a beef brisket sandwich. Our BBQ is just ok up here compared to what you guys have in North Carolina. Locally we have no place to get good ribs, and only a couple of places that you can get pulled pork or brisket that was actually BBQed and not grilled or oven baked.

Thanks for giving props to NC BBQ Kyle. Sound like you have a good incentive to buy a nice grill/smoker and start cooking!

That's great to hear! I am very tempted by the new bv but I can't find it within me to justify the cost!

My BV is black, like the outer crust on the BBQ beef brisket!

Pics will follow. I left my camera in my car when I dropped it off to be worked on yesterday. Tomorrow I plan to ride around Lake Whatcom out to the South Fork of the Nooksack valley, then out to the Mt Baker Hwy to Bellingham to get to the mechanic's shop that is 10 minutes from my house if I take the direct route!

This thing is going to kill me! I stayed out riding it so long I had to stop and get another gas station lunch or I wouldn't have time to get ready for work. I can feel my arteries clogging!

Gorgeous bike & pics. How did you like the windscreen at higher speeds (60+ mph)?

Does your foot hit the scoot when you get on? Even with my smallish feet my shoe always hits one part or the other as it goes through the scoot to the other side.

Did that on my Aprilia SR50 and I had a bunch of black marks where it would always hit. I swore off scooters without a flat footrest area after I got rid of that thing even though I really liked the build, fit and finish.

The windscreen works surprisingly well for its size. At high speeds the wind hits the top inch of my helmet. It is enough that it doesn't bother me, it is not too loud, and I don't plan on getting a bigger one.

My foot hits the center bump every once in a while. I don't mind scuff marks though.
