I have a 2008 Buddy 50cc and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to check the wear on the rear brake shoes. I have read that there is an indicator with arrows, but I cannot seem to find it on mine. If you could post a picture that would help a whole lot.

I know on my R50 the only way to check the rear drum is to pull the wheel off, and that entails removing the exhaust to do so. Maybe the same for the Buddy 50 ?

I think the only way is to pull off the wheel.

Why are you worried? Those pads should last a long, long time. The fronts will wear out long before the rear.

There's nothing wrong with a little pro-active maintenance. Besides, going in there now and again gives you a chance to clean the brake dust from the lining.
