Modern Buddy

I'm starting to get some basic value information of my 09 Pamplona 150. We may have to sell it and not really sure where to start on price. It was purchased new just about a year ago and has around 1200 miles. Never been laid down and always garaged.

I did a quick search on Kelley Blue Book and found the suggested retail value for a 2009 Buddy International 150 is $2320. That is based on excellent condition with an average accumulated mileage of 4665 miles. About a month or so ago, I purchased a 2008 Buddy 150 Italia, from a private seller, in excellent condition with 1260 miles for $1750.

Are there any accessories?

I added a windshield as well as the headlight upgrade. I had the Prima pipe put on and re-jetted the carb. Also upgraded to a better variator and changed weights. I'm 66 years old and sure do hate to think of giving it up.

We are just trying to get some early ideas to be prepared.

You can use http://www.searchtempest.com/ to search as many Craislist pages as you want, all in one search. I used it to find a value for my scooter when I crashed and the insurance company totaled it. I wanted to make sure I was getting a fair price for it. Also, don't expect to get a lot more for the accessories you've added. Most buyers will just see those as icing on the cake, but not really be willing to give you more for them. You'd do better to sell them separately. Doing it that way, you might even convince the person who buys your scooter to also buy the accessories as a separate package deal. All of this being said, I hope you don't have to sell it.

I bought my 2009 Pamplona with 6xxx miles for $2000 but it also had rear and front chrome racks, cowl protector, new rear tire and mirrors, light upgrade, a Xena Disc Alarm, and both Prima roll bags as well as recent oil and service. The scooter had never been dropped and the only minor flaw IMHO was a very light scuff on the plastic of the muffler and a 1/4" rip at the lip side of the seat from where it hits. That being said, the seller was asking $2200 for it and I would gladly have paid that if he had not been negotiable in the price. In fact I would have paid $2400 for the scoot and all the accessories. The slightly higher mileage actually was a plus for me because that meant he had already done the major service on it and it was broken in. ;p Previous to this I had been watching and waiting for about 4 months and the market really fluctuates. You really need to look at the market close to you to get a better idea. Put up a price slightly higher than you are willing to sell at since most people will try to negotiate on CL. Set the lowest price you're willing to go in your mind and stick to it. Have all your paperwork organized. Highlight to the buyer that a new scooter will still require taxes, licences and prep fees and that you've already broken it in and have had the major services done. Good luck in your sale!
