Brake lever replacement

Post by lillylars »

My front brake lever needs to be replaced. I have figured out how to open up the top, all though the bundles of wires make it tough to actually remove the top piece with the speedometer.

What i am wondering, and i have checked the service manual provided and don't see anything on it, is: how to i replace the lever with the tension on the handle from the cable. is this something i can fix on my own?? any help or descriptions or pics would be helpful.

My brake lever broke when my two day old italia tipped over (sitting still in the garage...note to self...the side kick stand is not very stable) :(

oh well, just a few minor scuffs, but that brake lever is something i need to have replaced. An help from you experts?

Number One; If you unplug the "gang" connector from the top of the headset and unscrew the speedometer cable, first from the bottom, then at the top (making sure NOT to lose the little collar from the bottom), you can lift the top of the headset right off.

Number Two; Unbolt the front brake cable from the wheel to gain the movement you need to remove first the cable from the lever, then the lever from the headset.
