Anyone around the Madison, WI area?

Post by ender07 »

Hey, I'm pretty new and never bothered to introduce myself. My name is Travis and I live just outside of Madison, WI on the East side. I bought a St. Tropez 50cc Buddy back in the end of March and have been loving it!

I already got my thank you package from Genuine and I was able to get the $200 Spring Bling promo gift card to Scooterworks.com so I bought a medium Prima windshield, a Gen-U-Bin, some sweet Bobster Bugeye 2 goggles, a cover, a scooter shirt, and some various other little things. Besides taking 5 minutes to figure out the right mirrors' screw is reverse threaded, it all worked out well.

I don't see many people riding scooters around in Sun Prairie but I do know there are alot more people in Madison. I was hoping to find some people to ride with, as me and my spouse love our buddy and I usually find myself riding it around just to ride it!

I hope to get to know you guys and gals better and be sure to ride safe!

Amerivespa 2012 is in Lake Geneva (near IL border between Rockford and Milwaukee) in a couple weeks. That would be a VERY GOOD place to meet lots of scooterists, see lots of scooters, and break the world record for "largest scooter parade."

Well since its a 50cc with max bmph of roughly 50 and no way to transport it, unfortunately I don't think I will be able to make it. It sounds like it would be a fun time though!

I am looking into getting my class M motorcycle license and then buying either a stella or 170i sometime within the next 2 years or so. Or maybe just buy a nice beginner motorcycle and try that out but with my height being over 6' I haven't seen a decent motorcycle that fits my frame. Anyone have any ideas?

I spent a weekend in Madison in late February, and there were SO MANY scooters. It was pretty cold (in an absolute sense, not a Madison sense) and the wind coming off the lake was fresh, still lots of folks zipping around. I saw more Yamahas and Hondas than anything else, but plenty of Buddys.

Madison has traditionally been one of the best markets for 50cc scooters. Maybe because it's a college town, the roads, licensing, other reasons, but 50s have always done well there. Boston has been catching up!

Yeah that's true, I do live on the East side in a suburb so venturing into downtown Madison is a bit of a drive but I still enjoy it. I'm surprised there are no scooter clubs down here that I know of...I've looked online and asked but never heard of any.

Many people will be riding 50cc scooters, some from Chicago which is roughly 74 miles to Lake Geneva.

50 miles on non-interstate roads is certainly something that a 50cc is capable of doing. When I went to Amerivespa in San Antoniio, TX a couple years ago there was a good size contingent who rode from Austin which if you avoid the freeway is closer to 100 miles as well as folks from Houston 180 miles. Even if you can't ride your Buddy for some reason you should still try to attend on Saturday.

Unfortunately I work Saturday & Sundays so if I did make it, I would have to take a full vacation day...Not sure if I would be able to use one, plus the fact that if I went I would most likely bring my wife, and two people on a 50cc brings it down to a max of 40-45 mph total and I might hold up traffic and cause issues.
