Any of you San Diego scoots ever go to Julian? I used to ride my Honda 250 Hawk to there up some twisty highway to the Julian Cafe for some of the best apple pie and coffee. Just wonder if it still there......it was in 1960-61.

We used to go to The Julian Pie Company in the 80's.
Then, we would stop by Dudley's Bakery for Date Nut bread and those molasses cookie bars!

Yes, they're still open. I was just up (er, down) there a few weeks ago. Great riding in that area!
Rolling through Julian:
We ate at Dudley's.
[EDITED TO ADD] And after years of wanting to ride there and get pie, after the Dudley's pastrami sandwich I was too dang full for the pie! Next time, I guess!

You should have gotten to go and put it in your pet carrier then you would still have warm apple pie when you got home!

Absolutely amazing riding down there! Big wide freshly paved sweeping turns twisting through some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere. I'm planning to ride back down there and to SD to visit friends in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed. This time I think I'll forego the massive Dudley's sandwich so I can try some of the famous pie!

For jrsjr, I think it was the Julian Cafe' (& Bakery) on Main street. It was about the ONLY thing there in the 60's! Yeah, eat one slice there and take the rest of the pie in the tub to have it hot/warm when ya get home!

Perfect! They're going to need an extra pot of coffee when I get there.

If you're riding I-40 through the panhandle of Texas and the high desert of NM and AZ, you're gonna need more that one pot of coffee!

We used to live down the hill from Julian in late 80's, at time I was driving a Honda Rebel. I used to love that little bike. It is good to see that it is still there.

Jeeze, here I am planning my new route from LA to San Diego and now after seeing jrsjr's cross country map I feel like a total underachiever!

Don't feel too bad, I'm just dreaming about the Butterball Run. That ride has definitely not received SWMBO approval.

Besides, the mileage you have on your Buddy makes
me feel like an underachiever and I've traversed the USA 2 1/2 times on various Cannonball Runs.

LOL! All these long rides are my
substitute for a SWMBO. So I'm not sure I'm one up on anyone!
Next few weeks should be a blast though. Mountain ride to Wrightwood this weekend, canyon riding the following weekend, and a nice trek down to San Diego weekend after that. Thanks to my scooter it actually feels like I have a life and get vacation time!
