I got one of the vests
here. Soak it for an hour or so, then let it set overnight. It'll last for a couple hours at least and when riding it lowers your core temperature by a lot - so much that I have gotten chilled. Especially good under a mesh jacket.
Granted, sitting at stoplights still sucks, but still worth it, I think.

Great post Howard but you forgot one thing. Sunblock!!
SPF "Oh crap it's hot!"
The other day I went for an hour long ride and when I got home my neck was stinging red!

Lot's of people swear by the Frogg Toggs Chill Pad cooling towels. They usually cost around $12.

Nice post, Howard! I drive down Broadway nearly every day and that little Discount Suites sign is where I always check the temp.
In the summer I wear this (now really ratty) neon green cotton cardigan that I spray down with water before driving across town.
I've been trying to run more of my errands after sunset, too. It's just getting brutal out.
