The solution to my last post is that the circuitry of my tail light is fried and it needs to be replaced.
I got ahold of a replacement LED tail light but cannot figure out how to get the red cover off to access the internal screws. I have spent hours trying to figure out how to get the red cover of the tail light off. Does anyone know how?

Actually, I just realized that the hex screws don't attach to buddy.
I am now trying to get the old LED tail light out. I removed three screws but the side panels and the plastic part that the license plate that it attaches to are preventing me from pulling it out.
I'm afraid I am going to have to attempt to remove the side panels to free the tail light.
Like I said, it is LED so there is no bulb. The entire assembly is one unit.

Take a look at this tutorial:

It should get you in to the parts you need to get into. You might have to remove a side panel to get it all the way out. I'm not sure.

I appreciate the help. I installed my new tail light but, geez, they sure don't make it easy. Removing the side panels drove me insane. I didn't even figure out how to get them completely off. I just removed enough screws to the point where I was able to bend the plastic and then I just squeezed the tail light out.
