Modern Buddy

I have new crash bars on my Buddy 125 and now have terrible bruising on both calves. The front edge of the crash bar hits me mid-calf and it looks like I've been beaten...not good for short summer skirts! I don't want to remove the crash bars, but I also don't want bruises. Does anyone have any ideas for somehow cushioning the front edge? I'm a 5'5" girl.

By the "front edge" do you mean the passenger foot rests? If so those are a separate part and can be removed independently without removing the cowl protectors. There is no part of the cowl protectors themselves anywhere near where your feet or calves go so I am not sure what you might be hitting your calves on.

I remove the foot pegs and then reinstall whenever I plan to have a pillion. . . takes about 3 minutes. . .then NO bruising

I never even put mine on. The cowl bars do their job, but as stated by the majority, if you're short you're going to hate the passenger pegs. I'm stocky so it hits me in the same spot.

I took the passenger foot rest bar off too. It simply is in the way too much. They didn't leave enough room on the floorboard for my boots, and my jeans cuffs were constantly getting snagged on the foot pegs when I put my feet up/down for stops. Almost fell over a couple of times.

I kept them in case I ever start riding two-up. But I will probably never put them back on.

No, I don't mean the foot pegs. I did not install them because I didn't need them. It's the open front edge/hole of the crashbar where the foot pegs would be inserted. That edge hits the back of my calves & is causing bruising. I'd like to cover the edge with something, but am not quite sure how to attach it.

Yeah, I'm having trouble picturing what you're saying. I'm relatively short at 5'7", and when I come to a stop, my calves are way behind the foot pegs. Perhaps a rather tall person's legs would end up forward of the pegs due to longer thighs? I can't picture any impinging metal bits without the pegs that would bang against my leg, so perhaps a photo might help us visualize.

Something is not right. There is no way anything should be anywhere near able to hit you in the calf.

I have dinged myself once or twice on the very ends, but that was moving my feet a LOT.
