MB is the only forum I frequent that logs me out. I click the remember me button but it doesn't seem to matter.

You should stop using Internet Explorer or Safari. Delete your cookies. You should be fine from there.

Recommendations: Firefox, Chrome, Opera

Is it a corporate computer? It may have a script installed that clears the cache after each log off.

Nope, using chrome on multiple computers. Have AT&T dsl. Use the iPhone too. None of them stay logged in.

It is not Safari - or not for me as I stay logged in.

Never said safari was the problem... only that people should stop using it along with internet explorer. lovemysan: did you delete the cookies yet?

In other words, you don't think the choice of browsers is the OP's problem (neither do I), you just don't want others to use Safari or IE. Exactly.

Considering how many security holes are in Safari and how quickly the browser is compromised during penn testing... Safari is the worst browser out there to use. The second worst is Internet Explorer. Those are the stats I listen to and even take part in with the penn testing for the work I do. There are people out there who are so oblivious that they don't know there is anything else.

So true, Chrome or Firefox seem to be the way to go. In the IT industry you see people using IE so often just because they don't know there are other options available for them to use since it came pre-loaded on their computer. Whenever I work on a client computer I always suggest Chrome or Firefox. (Otherwise I put the repeat offenders on Linux with Firefox and never hear from them again)

I like an easy transition for people, I usually set them up with Joli Cloud. Imagine a Chromebook but for free and using whatever equipment you have around, plus you can dual boot with Windows if you don't want to quite make the jump. I just setup my mom finally on a laptop with Joli Cloud and now, after the initial walkthrough, she loves it!

I use Arch primarily for my main computer system. GSRBuntu for my primary work computer. TinyCore for my portable SSD drive. Then I have a stack of thirty or so live discs I carry with me wherever I go. My favorite quote this week "What version of OSX is that?" To which I replied "The free version that also works on every other computer in existance, and not just the apple trash."

Do you have the "keep me logged in" option selected when you log in and are you allowing cookies?

I use Safari and don't have a problem. There were some serve hiccups last week that were logging people off between sessions, but that's got nothing to do with your browser or settings.

I've used IE for a dozen years and have never been hit by malware. The browser is not the problem. User's browsing habits are. People with bad habits are going to get hit, no matter what browser they use. They aren't being helped by learning about a differnt browser, they need to know how to keep from getting infected or hijacked.
