Looks like some really nice scenary...you must be located away from the fires, I take it? It sounds really bad--I hope they get that under control soon.

Did you ride that sweet spring loaded bouncy scooter in the playground in that pic?

The fires are very far south and very far north of where we were. Contrary to the media reports, the state is not on fire, just parts of it .

And no one hopped on the springy scoot this time, but I do have a picture of my wife in full gear on it from out last ride that left from the same location!

Crap! If I saw that spring scooter I'm sure I'd have been able to talk nearly all of our members into riding it!

Been there, done that. I believe that takes something which would handle better cruising speeds on highways. Did that with my Virago I had... the only problem it wasn't recognized by any organization so it's not official.

I'm wondering... would it even be possible on a 50cc? May need a good sized external tank to minimize the stops... but if you could hold it at 45mph it might be possible with the stops needed

Doing 1000 miles in 24 hours might not require violating any laws of physics, but it would require ignoring a whole lot of good sense, and exceeding the engineering specifications of both bike and rider. The longest distance I've done in a 24-hour period was less than 250 miles. That was about 12 hours on the road, with plenty of leisurely stops... but even if you cut out the nice bits and stayed at it for twice as long, I don't think 1000 miles would be a reasonable goal.

even on the 150, even if I had all the cushy fancy shocks, I think 1k miles would be murder.

It's not bad with the right set up. The airhawk cushion and sheepskin cover helped me get through with little road fatigue. Now if you were to try it on a hardtail without a springer seat... YIKES. That would be about as bad as trying to ride a bike with no air in the tires.

I'm thinking HowardR (All Hail HowardR!) is our only documented Saddle Sore 1000 rider using a Buddy, at least around MB.

I've been watching the Tour de France and thinking that it might be possible to do it with a Buddy 50 by drafting a motorcycle. What we need is a circular course that doesn't have a lot of hills. Would the Salton Sea road course work for this? We'd just need a big motorbike, a small scooter rider and a Buddy 50. It'd be a worthy project. Anybody interested is trying to pull this off?

Done it on a motorcycle. I have done 500+ on a scoot in a day, but ....hmmmm, now you have me thinking about it. I have the friend to do it with me , too .

Now on a 50? THAT would take planning
